Just because I am ill off work today, there is no way I'm going to fall for that and play MK all day looking for some stairs that probably don't exist.

I did find the secret jetpack power up though.

Well Romanista & Mimi turned up on my friends list last night, but sadly were not around to race.

Bowser Castle + Dry Dry Ruins = Awesome.

Rainbow Road = $*&W^%(&%£^, but improving.

Malc, some nice racing yesterday evening.. i was just too reckless at bowser castle (both wii and n64), but still.. did beat your and matt's Daisy Circuit time (matt's time with 7/1000s :)), with a 33.852 lap, so if i would be able to that three times i would make 1.41.556, but next goal is to get into the 1.42s...

hey Romanista - delete my friends thing of Craig's console (though don't delete Craig himself!) Wen you race me in lancaster I am usually signed on as Craig's guest anyway :munkeh:

Well I finally get to race the flying Dutchman!

Really enjoyed that (apart from desperately fighting you for 2nd place on RRoad and flying off the side on the last lap!). It's a refreshing change from the other racers I've been playing lately.

Now if only it had voice chat... ah, well at least it has turbo starts, squids and red shells :D

You noticed camium lemon (dermoth) joined us too?.. fun too see that i left a contintinental circus a few races after malc left at 9.30 gmt or so tio see if you were there, and you had probably joined the same circus, as I joined you and saw the same people again..

we're 3-3 now i saw in the standings, thought you raced quite well, if you remember you only have the game for a day, so probably next week you're much harder to beat..

i was horribly unlucking on koop's cape, but i had some luck at rainbow road.. i remain the the champion of SNES Ghost valley 2 though :)

this could be another epic battle..

Oh right, didn't realise it was Cadmium. I saw both you and Malc on the first game I tried to join but it kicked me out.

Thanks for the compliment :luv: I may have only had Mario Kart Wii for a couple of days but I have played the earlier ones pretty heavily!

Nice to finish on 3-3, it means there has to be a rematch :)

Took my Continental VS rating past 6000 tonight. I've never known such enjoyable random online play.

I find myself voting for the tracks where the results come from good driving, rather than random ? block happenings. Give me something with lots of right-angles, to feed my drift habit, or something to weed out the incompetent (like the oncoming traffic in Moonview Highway, or the sheer lack-of-fenciness of Rainbow Road).

If I've just had to endure being knocked out of first place by evil power-up randomness on a track like N64 Mario Raceway, I find myself voting for Rainbow Road without feeling guilty now.

no, though about doing a wheel/other control methods rule, but then you wouldn't have the fastest probably, so anything allowed..

Hurrah! Here's my code...

4811-7379-1267.

I've added everyone with the exception of Romanista (whose friends list is full) and the couple of people on the list who are from other forums.

Given the time difference and all, I'm sure you won't see me online until the weekend, but feel free to hit me up for a race if you see me around. I'll use the intervening time to practice like a maniac, as my first few races have been, erm, a trifle unsuccessful.

Man, this game is great. I initially thought I'd revert to the pad after trying the wheel, but still haven't bothered - It takes a little getting used to, but once your 'in' it's superb.

@Romanista - Had a crack at your Dry Dry Ruins Time Trial last night and although I whittled off 20 seconds off my initial attempt, I'm still way way behind you. I only tried carts though, are you using a bike by any chance?

Need more practice on the bikes then (I find them really twitchy compared to the Karts).

2.13! Wowzers.

This Mario Circuit competition.

Have you SEEN the Worldwide circuit times?

Some people must LIVE on that game.

I use the word "live" in the loosest possible sense, of course.

A plaintive cry for you all to tear yourselves away from GTA IV and add me for some online racing pleasure. Or at least so I can try and beat all your time-trial scores.

Pretty please.

malc74, i'll delete some question mark that's still there after 3 weeks today, and add you, so you can add me in return

Sorry, what's the track and how do I get 'ghost data' from other people?

Mrs A's nephews and niece keep calling me up to play them so not been able to have proper grown up fun for a while.

It should hopefully sort itself out when I log on again, as I think the original adder has to go online again before the "connection" is made.

What time do you lot generally play? It's been weeks since I've seen anyone else online.

Played against my Brother last night - really adds something to the experience when you know the person you're beating. My favourite was being about 12 secs ahead of him on GCN DK Mountain, then stopping just before the finishing line, waiting for him to catch up, then firing a green shell backwards across the bridge to clobber him. :p

Yay! Just got my online score over 7000 after a few decent races tonight. Mind you, it started out pretty terribly when in the first race, precisely ten yards from the finish line (having led pretty much from the start right up until that point), I got clobbered with a green shell, a red shell and then squished by someone using a giant mushroom. Cue much whispered swearing (the baby's asleep), not to mention some pathetic Wiimote waving as if, I dunno, I was appealing to the linesman or something.
Of course MK doesn't give a rat's arse whether you've led from start to (almost) finish, so my second-last placing lost me 135 points, which took me about 4 races to claw back.

I also raced against my first 9000+ person tonight and saw my first couple of opponents who've earned stars beside their names. I really need to play the single player Grand Prix mode some more, but the online racing is just so bloody addictive.

I'm guessing he's using a light character with a motorbike that has good off road, and skirting the edge of the deep water whilst boosting over the dark green bit.

I'm guessing he's using a light character with a motorbike that has good off road, and skirting the edge of the deep water whilst boosting over the dark green bit.

Yuss indeedy. Baby Weegie on the Magikruiser to be exact, although faster people seem to be selecting Toadette (but I've only just unlocked her).
Actually, I've become so impressed with the Magikruiser that it's become my online vehicle of choice, replacing the Wild Wing which just doesn't have the acceleration and which I'd hit a plateau on (I reached about 6200 points with it but simply couldn't go any higher).

@Romanista - Hopefully I'll remember to send you a ghost either today or tomorrow. I'm off on holiday on Friday for 2 weeks, so I don't think I'll have much chance to improve my time in the next couple of days.

@Malc - did you get my acceptance to the invite you sent last month? I replied ages ago but you haven't showed up on my friends list yet.

No, I've not seen it.

When I get my copy of Mario Kart, is there yet another code to go handing out to everyone? I've finally got Romanista registered, but the rest is being Slow McCackypants.

I'm back! Is Maple Treeway over and done with yet? If not, I'll sit down and have a crack at it tonight - my score on the table is from weeks ago.

The last time I attempted to beat my personal best on Maple Treeway I nearly threw my controller AT THOSE FRIGGIN CATERPILLARS.

Might have another bash tonight.

if you are around the 1.40 mark using the shortcut in the beginning* you don't have problems with them..

* go right after 3 seconds or so, or follow the expert ghost
