In an effort to reach out hands of peace to our retro sides, I thought I'd start a topic on this after talking about it to Myoptika in our cliquey eggboxing.

Did anyone love this game on the Amiga? I remember sitting there for hours playing this back in my youth. A very real pre-cursor to GTA in a way. You fought crime in a completely open sandbox city viewed from the top down. Crimes ranged from pickpocketing to... murder... and would happen randomly throughout the city. You controlled 9 of the characters from the show, and had to respond to the crimes as they were reported.

Each character had a vehicle, and was dispatched by you to the scene of the crime. There you had to arrange for a paramedic to attend the victim (or worse, the coroner) and track down and apprehend the villain. On returning to the station you handed them over to be booked, or if the crime was serious enough you entered court and had to identify the villain from a line up. Each random pedestrian had a unique face, you see, which always impressed me. Games could take HOURS and I never reached an "end" in all my time playing it.

Looking back it's a game that was well ahead of its time, and the GTA3 and 4 police missions don't come close to rivalling the depth that this game had.

Hoping for a remake,
Dimrill.

Indeed it does - that was my little trick to get you to link to it, and save me the trouble of Googling. Ho ho ho. Ah, well I do remember it.

I remember that it didn't work on my Amiga A1200, so I never actually played the bastard!

This has always significantly bothered me.

An anecdote in which much merriment is made of CUS' persistent attempts to borrow Dimrill's external disk drives, hard drive, A500, entire disk collection etc.

CUS pretends to storm off the stage, and the audience is unsure quite what is taking place. He returns to make a final quip and introduce tonight's special guest: Mr. Russ Abbot here to promote his new starring reccurring role on Last Of The Summer Wine! Except it's not obviously, and is actually Chinnyhill10, who simultanously resembles every forgotten icon of the 80s, all the time.
