Handcuffed dance routine, where they'll roll over each other's shoulders, fling each other apart then jerk back in again, fight - embrace, etc. It was fun watching passersby stumble upon the rehearsal / portrait shoot and wonder what the hell was going on. |

I've been working on my portrait game. I'm getting more requests for dance and theatre shoots, it's been pretty hectic lately trying to get shoot stuff after work and getting the edits in. I'm knackered, but kind of excited. Anyway, very slight warm tint on these. I swear to God it's not sepia, honest. I'm rather addicted to black and white at the moment, and I don't see much shifting me from that for the time being. Straight out of camera JPEGs using the Fujifilm Acros simulation, with a slight film curve applied in Capture One. Spoils for the rest, so it don't take up a big wodge. Cheers, bud! Without a doubt. I don't think I'd be the same photographer I am today if I'd stuck with the DSLR. Having an EVF is great for teaching you about the use of light, and I learnt from the limitations of the earlier, slower Fujifilm cameras. Plus those lovely Fuji bodies just make me want to pick them up! Speaking of which... to the camera gear thread...! |

Went hiking in the Chilterns at the weekend. Nothing strenuous, but good to get out. Took this picture of a country lane and felt the magic Google colour enhancement brought it to life. Might get it put on canvas for my wall. |

Yeah, my first immediate thought too, Warhead - Lowry! Incidentally a Lowry paintjng was the first piece of art I consciously remember seeing, just a few years old, in a Doctor's waiting room. |

There is a Squirt family story that some distant uncle-in-law was a delivery person for Lowry - like his paperboy or milkman or something. One Christmas Lowry gave said relative a Merry Christmas note, and included a nice little signed drawing along with it. The uncle, being an uncultered buffoon, threw the drawing away as being a worthless bit of tat and therefore lost a Christmas tip worth a fortune. |

I went for a wander around The Lowry in that there Salford. Perhaps because I'm pretty clueless and so it was unexpected I came away more taken with the stuff he's perhaps less well known for, like the seascapes and portraits. |

Did you see the recent article about Eric Tucker? He produced over 400 paintings and was compared to Lowry. I'm certainly don't follow art, but I like the examples used in the article. |
