I think I'll post some of my New York photos since I haven't posted much in rather a long time.
This is a beautiful shiny building we walked past on our way to Central Park, which was sort of curved round so as it was facing the park as much as possible. The architecture in New York is really striking, there are the classic 'Friends' style tenement apartment buildings then a block away there are skyscrapers or theatres or neon lights. even in a skyscraper area there are old brick and stone buildings next to shining glass and metal. It was an incredible place to just wander around in taking in the view. During our five days there we didn't use public transport once and instead just walked everywhere because we wanted to see as much as possible!

This was a shot I was trying to take of a taxi rushing by but I didn't want to spend ages about it so I took a few and this was the best of them. If I had been able to stay there for a wee while I would have persevered until I managed to move smoothly enough to keep the backlights straight but never mind.

I really like this shot, looking straight down rather than across when up the top of the Empire State. I think some of why I like it so much is because the buildings are so dark and sombre and regimented but then the street is just these incredible colours.

This one is annoying, I wish I hadn't been shaking with the cold so much and could have gotten the building sharper! This was still up the top of the Empire State building, we went up there in the evening and although it was a nice January day on the ground, up there it was blowing a gale and freezing cold.

The Paris lovelock idea has travelled to New York and now padlocks with initials drawn on them can be found along Brooklyn Bridge.

New York City cops, New York City cops, New York City cops, they ain't too smart! Sorry, I'm just singing. This was a lovely and very friendly big police horsey we met when we were walking through Times Square.

Pete, you would love the opportunities in New York for street photography. I saw loads of interesting buildings, one in particular just on the Brooklyn side of the bridge that was all abandoned and dilapidated that you would have loved and the amount of runners and cyclists on the bridge was brilliant.
