You didn’t consider lowering the price? If you were dead against being a landlord would have not taking a hit and selling been the better option?

Hope you can get a cheaper quote, DP.

Try and think that you'll claw that mine back over the years with the rent money. Sucks when unexpected bills hit you.

Would it cover wear and tear though rather than accidental damage?

Err, so, if you sold it at, say, £50k profit (after all costs of sale etc) you’re angry you’d have to pay £7k in tax and only walk away with £43k?

No-one wanted to buy it. We lowered the price 3 times. The house was empty for so long we had started paying council tax on it again.

No, I'm just generally angry and needed to type the word "fucking" a lot.

After some reading around, our actual profit is unlikely to be over the £24k allowance anyway. Highly unlikely *sad trumpet sound*

You definitely shouldn't sell it at a £27K loss just to get rid of the fucking thing. I mean, what kind of idiot would do that? Ahahahahahahahaha*tails off into desperate sobbing*

Oh God, not for less than I owed! I sold it for 5k more than what was left on the mortgage, but that was 27k less then what I originally paid for it. It's basically like being a first time buyer again, except I've had a lot longer to save up a deposit. RIP most of my fucking savings!

The estate agent originally valued it for a lot more but it had been on the market for a few months (over Christmas admittedly) and I'd only had a few viewings and no offers. Everything about the flat itself and the sale process was massively negatively impacting my mental health so I took the decision to just get shot of it. I was never ever getting my money back on it, I could've got at most another 5 to 10 grand if I'd held out and it didn't feel worth it.

What were your comparables priced at then? It sounds like it was overpriced for the area. Did an agent set the price?

Minor but painful nay. I got bitten by a mosquito on the part where my ear meets my head and it's turned into impetigo, and my ear is swelling up and blistering. Luckily I just happened to have a doctor's appointment today so she's given me the treatment for it, but man alive my ear is sore.

Oh that sucks. I get impetigo under my nose after a cold (except I never drag my arse to the docs to get it sorted so it comes back again and again :S ) and it's so sore and itchy. Hope it goes asap :luv:

Under your nose? Gosh, i bet that's even more painful then where I have it on my ear. Apparently it's contagious. The advice on the cream is (spoilered for squeamish)

Not according to the roofer that the management company got in. Potential conflict of interest of course

You probably spend more time outdoors now, mind, maximising your potential exposure. I get it at very different times of the year, so have never worked out which plants are causing it. Plus travelling complicates it - ooh, summer, but it's December. The UK was bad for me in June, but not when I left last week.

I've got a PCN coming for not paying the toll for crossing the new Mersey Gateway Bridge last month. It's the first time I've forgotten to pay, but they have my email address associated with my van reg because I've paid them about a dozen times previously. Pity they couldn't just send me a reminder when I hadn't paid after 24 hours.

I got done for nearly £500 for failing to pay the fee for both legs of a the Dartford crossing. Galling, but it was my fault for not updating my address with the DVLA.

I've since added my bank details to Dart Crossing, so they can just debit money from my account, which makes life easier.

Was around £250 each way, based on the fines that escalate after each period
of non-payment elapses. Which I was oblivious to as the letters were going to my old address.

My original fine would have only been £35 or something, I think.

I changed addresses then got caught by a speed camera. NIP, points, fine, escalating fine all to my old address until it got to the point my license was cancelled. When I finally worked it out and got round to getting it reinstated, no fine and no points.
