I’ve never been fired but I once had a meeting with my boss and HR that involved me being escorted from the premises. They wouldn’t even let me say bye to everyone. They even got my stuff out my office for me, which was nice of them.

How does that tally with you never being fired??

I was going to be TUPEd over to another firm. I objected to the transfer about a week before the transfer so they aggressively placed me on garden leave.

I was made redundant and got escorted from the premises (about 50 of us at once). It was hilarious and ace.

Oh, the American word for "stud" is "livery". In the UK, livery is something you do with horses.

Be more British! We're strong and stable (!) after all.

I blame Trump for making all you kids speak American.

What putting your hand in the oven with nothing on it does.

Burns are the worst.

I steamed my thumb t'other day, hurt like fuck... and carried on getting worse and worse for the next few minutes, even with running it under cold tap. Why does that happen?

I don’t know, but I always find for minor burns it hurts a lot less and for a much shorter time if you don’t bother to run it under cold water.

Get some lavender oil. Amazing on burns

I've got some savlon burn stuff (can you tell, I burn myself *a lot *) but sadly life goes on and I have to keep using my hand so it's taking ages to heal. I would wear rubber gloves, but one of my autistic absolute no nos is rubber. I think it came from my fear of balloons as a kid (and the noise they make) but the feel and smell of it just make me panic like eff.

A burn should be allowed to breathe anyway. You can pick up cotton gloves pretty cheap from the chemist.

I actually have some ffs. Just totally did not make that connection. I get really bad eczema on my hands from vaping (it's the Propylene Glycol, but it's that or cigs) and I use them at night so I can dose up on moisturiser without getting it all over my pillows and in my eyes lol.

It's the washing up and bathing that wreck it again though. Maybe I should wrap it in clingfilm? worked on my scabby arm and leg.

Post subject:  Re: The 'NAY!' Thread

Just clean it and put a plaster over it. Pretty sure that the current consensus is that burns and wounds generally are not best left to "breathe", they heal quite a lot quicker kept clean and covered up and hence moist.

Post subject:  Re: The 'NAY!' Thread

That's why they cover up burns with cling film in hospital, I guess.

Or a health food store.

It does work best if applied immediately but seeing as you burn yourself quite often it's best to have some in.
