Glad to hear they've got to the bottom of it. Not the best news in the world, but like you said, it could have been so many other worse things.

Gah. I really am going to have to get myself to the GP now - I've been having intermittent chest pains (general tightness and specific, slowly mobile points of pain) for the last couple of months, usually with breathlessness before/during/after. I've been putting it down to my fairly-consuming anxiety (it doesn't always coincide with an attack, though I'm anxious at some point every day and have an attack most days), but my gammy leg is still most-symptoms-not-explained-by-varicose-veins gammy despite the compression sock. Obviously I've been hypochondrising since Owen, but this is probably too much, especially combined with Hel's mate undergoing diagnosis for very similar symptoms this past fortnight.

Glad you've got a diagnosis and treatment schedule Doc.

Today has been shit.

My mom popped round this afternoon and as she got out her car she tripped on the pavement and busted her nose/lip/chin open. Blood everywhere! I saw her go down which was horrible too.

I took her to A&E and luckily she didn't need stitches. They glued her top lip as it was flapping a bit which wasn't nice to see.

Horrid. It's not nice having to look after someone like that who has spent their whole life looking after you! I think I'm good in a crisis though.. she said I was calming.

Yuk. I've always dreaded the day that such things happen to my parents. Thankfully (for me) distance means I would't be first port of call if they ever needed help, but I remember the first time my ex saw her mum looking in a weakened state from a fall, and it was awful.

"Someone I know" got their parents Orange broadband free with their Orange mobile by signing up at their house.
Two years after they cancelled their mobile contract the broadband is still running...

This doesn't surprise me, as conversely, it took me 2 months to convince Orange that I had a phone contract with them, and that my flat had a phoneline, even when I called them from my Orange phone, at my new flat, where I had changed my account to, and wanted broadband installed.

When I moved out 12 months to the day after moving in (and the day that the broadband service should have started) they tried to charge me an early cancellation free to disconnect the free broadband as it had only been installed for 10 months :belm:

Oooh, sorry to hear that Mr. The Vision :( I remember going to see my dad in hospital after he had his hip replaced....he looked grey and small in the massive bed he was in. Nothing like his 6'2, 18st+ self. He was a fearsome man when I was younger and my parents were still married, he once chopped off someones thumb with a hatchet. And there he was in that bed looking old and withered. It was a sad sight....

I had Wanadoo broadband for nearly two years without paying a single penny. When Orange bought them out we simply got a 'new users welcome pack' and started getting charged.

Bloody hell, just entered this thread for the first time; to be honest I was expecting an innocuous collection of gripes about internet speeds and/or PC cooling fan noise issues from the rather jocular title, I was entirely unprepared for what I've just read.

Apologies for not having commented earlier, but very sorry to hear of your troubles Doc/The Vision/Bik/Warhead. I really hope all improves soon. I did half pick up on some other comment from Malaboob I think about Doc being unwell but did not at all realise the seriousness of the situation. :(

(Man, I feel a right tit for getting hot under the collar and filling the forum with talk about bloody Clios FFS and not even commenting about this, what a bellend  )

Good to hear you've got a diagnosis at last, Doc!

On the 'fucking sort it out, people!' list: USCIS. Who dumped my visa application in a Texan black hole back in November, along with 35,000 other people. I would like to be living with my wife before our first anniversary. It doesn't seem like such a big thing to ask…

My Grandad died last night. He was 97.

Pretty shocked even though it wasn't completely unexpected.

Sorry to hear that, Malc. He must have seen some things in his time, though!

Likewise sorry to hear about your troubles, Doc G. At least with it diagnosed they can go about fixing it. This is one ill forum. :(

Speaking of ill I've got some fun viral infection which has me stuck 24/7 with a foul frog in my throat, tickling coughs and general stuffed nose and head-fog. I have just been informed that it'll probably stick with me for a few weeks yet. Despite all this, I am well enough to work. Ho hum. Not on the scale of everyone elses woes, but still annoying.

I have a sore throat, caused by a blocked nose leading to excessive snoring.

MrsP's snoring is worse though. Something to do with soft tissues becoming more malleable during late pregnancy.

Urg. ;)

Sorry to hear of your loss, Malc. :(

Hardly in the same league, but I suffered a puncture yesterday in the Porker; it would have had to have been the recently renewed rear offside tyre and hideously expensive at that. Someone left a nice stainless steel screw in the road for the likes of me to run over. >:| Embarrassing to have to call out the RAC for that too, but there's no spare of course, not even a space saver. Arses. Still, I could've crashed the car, so I reckon I'm lucky really.

My closest Uncle has just been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He's never smoked.

Sorry to hear about your Grandfather Malc, and also sorry to hear about your uncle, Zardoz. It's particularly galling when someone contracts a form of cancer like this when they've not partaken in the vices that usually cause it. A good friend of mine lost his father to throat cancer a few years ago, a particular form of cancer normally associated with heavy drinking and smoking. His father was a very fit man, who never smoked and was never anything other than a very moderate social drinker. The unfairness of this really knocked my friend for six.

You are a lovely lot, aren't you? Sorry to hear about you granddad Malc, he had a good run, not that that is very comforting, I'm sure.

That sucks Z, I don't have any words of comfort to offer but I'm thinking of you....I'll add my hug to the pile over there, too *hug*.

That's very kind, and I'm very sorry to hear you lost your Mum last year mate.

This has hit me like a ton of bricks, but I'm more concerned about the rest of my folks, especially my Uncle himself, my Auntie and my Dad, who's his older brother.

I know what you mean, Daz. Had bad news about my favourite uncle in 2009, and it's a horrible mix of bad emotion. Concern for him, for your family, and the obvious heartbreak you feel. Really sorry to hear it.
