Couriers don’t do signatures, but they do take photos of the parcel placed in the open doorway of the house.
Now if the buyer says “that’s not my house” it’s easy to prove in real life, but do eBay or the courier firm verify that?

Here's an interesting one... I sold an item via eBay and sent it via their packlink service which uses Hermes as the carrier. The item says it's been delivered and signed for at the household but because of the pandemic, there isn't a signature on record. There is a verified GPS location instead though and it looks like it's the street in question so all should be good.

However.. The buyer is insisting that it hasn't turned up and has opened a case against me.

Despite having all the tracking details on hand, eBay have put the case on hold until October the 1st as they "need to get more information from the buyer on the condition of the item". You'd think that the fact it's been delivered would be enough wouldn't you but no. I shall wait and see what they say and look forward to no doubt having to give her a refund.

Posted a parcel off to Finland on March 7th and it arrived there... today. Quite the relief as it was for Super Turrican 2, a game I'd not owned before and didn't fancy having to fork out for a refund on it.

Delivery driver today decided that my parcel wasn’t going to fit in the letter box, so opened it up and took it out of the box it was packaged in, posted it through the letter box, then flattened the packaging and posted that through afterwards.

Plot twist one: it still didn’t fit, so they had to squash it some more to post it in the letter box.

Plot twist two: we were home! All they had to do was ring the doorbell.

(I’m actually really upset).

I can see their thought processes, where they wanted to make sure you got your item, but that was badly misjudged.

I went onto the online chat last night, and they weren’t interested in the slightest. I think a lot of couriers, online stores and services have long since taken the ‘you need us more than we need you’ line of customer relations.

It did bother me because it was something personal specifically for Darwin, and I might not want complete strangers knowing the contents. I also get medical things delivered, but there are so many other things people could have ordered: personal documents, testing kits, sexual things, private photos, etc; so many things that you might not want a delivery person to either look at or handle.

Isn't it illegal to tamper with post before it's received?

Was it Hermes?

Considering I must have a dozen parcels a week delivered, I've never had this happen to me and I'd be horrified if it did, even though 99% of the stuff I have delivered is just gaming related.

I'd have thought that if it hasn't even gone out for delivery yet, it's unlikely it'll be delivered by 4pm today.

It was collected on Friday morning (using the spangly new 72p collection service) - I didn't expect it to be delivered on Saturday, but I figured Monday would be a shoo-in.

The track and trace system is still showing it as last updated at 8pm on Friday, with "Your item is due to leave North West Midlands MC to go to Royal Mail site. More information will be available as it travels through our network."
