And then the tv show put her in the flames at the dothraki camp.

Molten gold isn't fire though :nerd:

We all saw her not die of fire!

Irregardless (is a word), she should have offed Jon. Not having done so will create an issue later.

But where would they be without Jon's generalship and all-round military nous?

I mean, apart from significantly more alive.

Not really that crazy to think that's the case in a fantasy show is it?

All of their actual fighting strategy was godawful. The trebuchets, the waste of the dothraki light cavalry, the unsullied suddenly being completely useless at holding a pike square...

The plan was to get night king into weirwood and kill him, so it worked! They didn't have the numbers for a pitched battle so needed to hang on until the pieces were in place.

It did the opposite of hanging on though, it got them almost immediately overwhelmed and slaughtered en masse. Not getting everyone killed was also a key part of the strategy.

Also the dragons were largely nerfed by the fog. WTF? Why? The front lines aren't going anywhere, just fly around at a low altitude and fucking cook stuff.

Also, get the fuck off the dragon, Jon Snerr. It's not like it needed you there.

Also at no point was he holding on to that thing while it was upside down having a fight. They could at least have improvised some straps to make that look less ridiculous.

He's been promoted to the role in which he can do the least amount of damage: away from being the anti Sun Tzu and into the elite role of "dragon cargo".

It wasn't terrible, it worked! It looked bad, but the result was what was desired just that most involved thought it was a straight fight rather than a bobble one guy plan.

Maybe they let the Dothraki hurtle to their heroic deaths and the Unsullied dwindle away at the gate so they could save on food afterwards. And ensure there was enough wine for Tyrion.

I mean, if I were on the 'Stark' side of that alliance, it wouldn't be a terrible tragedy for most of Dany's armies and allies to be killed in the battle. Leaves it a bit risky against Cersei and that, but fuck her, she doesn't even have elephants.

I mean, it was dark as TV shows go; but I still didn't have a problem seeing what was actually happening. And I yarred it so it's not like I was watching in the most legit way.

I enjoyed it at the time but I also agree with this:

The way the Night King died in particular was definitely an "oh" moment.

Not sure I agree with all of that.

Beric’s arc is complete, yes, but only if you knew that Arya would be the one to take down the Night King. Ditto Melisandre.

Jorah you can say yes, he died saving his Queen, but his mission in life was to see her sit on the Iron Throne.

And the Night King’s arc was totally interrupted in a very GoT way.
