I'm kind of wondering about the pacing for the rest of the series. The very start of the next episode is going to be the big fight so is that just going to take up most of the rest of the episodes that are left, with maybe a tidy up one at the end? Or, if it only takes one or two to resolve, doesn't that leave quite a bit of airtime and not much to do?

Do you ever get the impression that it’s run out of plot and now it’s just a series of twists waiting to happen around two big fights?

Friendly reminder that this thread is spoiler-free for the latest episode until after it finishes airing on the Monday night.

I’m not going to spoil it for no one - I’d feel suicidal if I’d spoiled something for a fan with my big mouth. Who wouldn’t want everyone to enjoy the best TV on the planet the same way I did; without any prior knowledge.

It was fucking beautiful though! I complain a lot about bad CGI (and CGI in general) but this looked stunning. It’s reet shitty that it’s only 1080p but I’m sooo going to get the UHD Blu-ray to have a good wank over.

So Arya is Azor Ahai?

Are you watching rips or Sky? Although complaints it’s too dark are common, I’m starting to wonder if ripping groups are fucking the colourspace up, maybe by dropping the HDR data.

Enjoyed it, great ending, don't know why it needed to be feature length though, they could have dropped half hour of watching each of the main protagonists almost being individually overrun for the nth time and done it all in an hour.

Bran could have picked a better time to have a kip for an hour.

Huh. I just read: Mason Williams is right handed. Arya Stark, in the books and the show, is left handed. So all of her fight choreography is with the wrong hand. This was at her own insistence. Because she’s a badass.

Arya even got in a superhero landing.

Fewer deaths than I expected.

I hope Bran was actually doing something all that time. Maybe he was controlling Ghost and leading Arya to the right place. Yeah, that’ll do for now.

I believe so. Personally I was a bit underwhelmed by this one.
Too many shots of people being utterly swamped, then the plot armour kicks in and they are fine.
Several B Tier deaths that didn’t change much, and it really didn’t need to be 90 minutes long.

Nah, it was fucking amazeballs.

The literal wave of zombies crashing over the army and then the POV shots that felt like we were caught in an eddy? Fucking breathtaking.

Sam scrapping away with a little dagger despite being the most shit-scared person in Winterfell? Heroic.

Lyanna Stark sticking a fucking zombie giant in the fucking eye despite her little body being crushed to bits? EPIC.

Ser Friendzone having the best death he could have wished for? Then Drogon swooping down to protect them? Tragic!

Me actually bouncing out of my seat and squealing "SHE DID THE DAGGER THING! YES! FUCK YES!"? Embarrassing!

Miss me with that negativity, bro. Best TV ever.

Also, if that was the same giant that breached the Winterfell gates in The Battle of The Bastards, then he hasn't had much luck with eyeballs, as he was killed with an arrow to the eye the first time around.

I don't think it was, they showed an ice giant zombie in the Night King's ranks whilst Wun Wun was alive.

Lyanna Mormont, that is. As in, Ser Jorah's cousin, and niece of Jeor Mormont who was commander of the Night's Watch when the series started.

Not a good night for House Mormont.

Also I'm pretty sure that was the same giant we saw get killed by an arrow to the other eye at the Battle of the Bastards. He was missing his right eye.

I watched this last night and thought it was brilliant... Dark, but brilliant.

I did expect more people to die however but I guess there's still time for that.

I'd never have seen that ending coming and when it finally happened, I was pretty much standing up! I couldn't believe it!

It was great telly and I was tense enough so I'm glad it didn't leave us on to much of a cliff hanger.

Didn't Jon snow say to aargh in the first episode "how did you sneak up on me?" In the weirwood before they talked about swords?

It's not looking good for Dany's Kings landing assault is it? No Dothraki, no Unsullied. Basically no Northmen or Vale Knights. Reckon she could get Dariio and his mercs over in time? The irony of two foreign mercenary companies fighting a proxy war for two pretender queens is nice anti-war message, right?

Danny V could have solved the threat to succession very easily, but now she has to wait. That was a huge mistake. She should have had the dragon immolate Jon asap.

I've thing that ep has told me is I need a better telly. My 11 year old 720 plasma couldn't keep up and most of the battle scenes were a blurry detailless expanse of grey :( I'll watch it again on a better screen.

Likely not: http://time.com/4336953/game-of-thrones ... -immunity/

Quote:
The author has dismissed the idea that Daenerys cannot be harmed by fire in the past. “TARGARYENS ARE NOT IMMUNE TO FIRE!,” he said during a discussion with fans. ‘The birth of Dany’s dragons was unique, magical, wonderous, a miracle. She is called The Unburnt because she walked into the flames and lived. But her brother sure as hell wasn’t immune to that molten gold.”
