The visuals are fucking lush for a TV programme. To say I can’t wait for the final season is an understatement. I worried because maintaining an errction until the 14th might be bad for my health.

I've looked into watching season 8 and it looks like I'll need a way to watch Now TV in the living room. I think this will do it, won't it?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Smart-Stick-En ... way&sr=8-5

That's a Now TV stick similar to my Amazon stick, and it comes with 3 months of Entertainment now which should cover me for the whole of the Season 8. Total outlay = £28.30.

Apart from hoping that I can download the episodes via piratebay on Monday morning, this seems like the cheapest option for me.

Why wouldn't you be able to do that? Not that I'm trying to dissuade you from going legit; just curious.

Also, this is cheaper for the same hardware (although I'm not sure if the two months it includes will cover you for the entire season of GoT):

There's some confusion with my friends that it's on at 9pm.

Is the correct answer.

2am Monday morning is the simultaneous showing with the US. 9pm Monday evening is the “proper” showing for people who don’t know how DVRs work or something.

It was ok on 720p pirate-vision. I’ve been spoiled by 4K and HDR from Netflix, but not quite enough to give Sky all the money.

We should make this thread a spoiler-allowed zone. Can a mod edit the thread title? It’s easier if everyone who hasn’t seen it yet avoids it than everyone has to do thousands of spoiler tags.

With the Hound coming in, that scene clearly contrasted the two sides of Arya’s character: the “cold-hearted bitch” and whatever’s left of the charming little girl we started the show with. I’ve a feeling only one of those sides to her will be left at the end. Not convinced it’ll be the nice one.

I rewatched the entire thing before this season started. It was weird that my opinion of some people really changed from the first time I watched it. Mainly Sansa, who it turns out is actually awesome and one of the best characters.

Agree that Euron was awesome, and probably what you think you are like :DD

One minor annoyance. At the end of last season the Night King blew a big hole in the wall.

Tormund and Beric were at the top of it and scrambling down, but that whole area was destroyed.

I guess they survived, but it seemed a bit odd or cheap or whatever that they just magically made it out. I’m fine with it as they’re ace, but still.

Yeah, she is, but actress seems sometimes lost rather than playing cards carefully. Obv unfair to say of a teenage actress to now but it has sort of stuck with me.

Yeah well, he looks like me ;)

Anyway, how fucking dark was that episode? Not in tone, just in brightness! They went from the crypt lit by a single fucking ikea tealight to the Last Hearth lit by the twinkle in Tormund's eyes! I was glad when Beric ignited his flame sword so I could see something :)

I think you are correct.

Shall we put it in the thread name anyway to underscore it?

3/4 posts with spoiler tags seems pointless.

Thought this season was going to be 4 or 5 hour and a half ZOMFG epics?

Normal runtime last night, wanted more!

I do feel like they might be rushing it toward the end, though. I wonder why they're doing so few?

Joking aside, and having refreshed my memory via Wikipedia: remember in 2016 the showrunners were saying they had "thirteen episodes left" and there was a thought at one time we'd get a long season 7 rather than a short s7 and a short s8. In part that didn't happen because they need wintry weather for a lot of the location shooting now. From that perspective, this isn't really "so few", it's the second half of the seventh season that couldn't be made any sooner because of logistics.
