Who plays the queen? I can't place her.

Lena Headey.

Sarah Connor from the Sarah Connor Chronicles, and she was also in 300.

April the 1st apparently. I'm gagging for it as I loved the last series. I thought it would at least be alright given the pedigree of the actors and studio involved but I wasn't really prepared for just how fucking excellent it was. Even the into and music are brilliant ffs.

I would think that's the pilot. I seem to recall it has a different woman playing Sean Bean's wife.

If it's the same thing as shown here then it's just a sort of preview thing that the US networks seem to go in for to generate interest in shows. I've also seen them done just before the start of later seasons of some shows to not only whip up a bit of interest but to remind people of where the story's up to as a refresher before the new season actually starts.

It's a bit bloody good this, isn't it? I just wish it wouldn't suddenly cut to "naked woman getting banged from behind" while I'm on the train.

One of the of the things about this story, book and TV show, is that there's just tits everywhere.

You'll also see knob and flange before the series ends, plus some fair amount of gore, which never quite cuts away soon enough. Expect to see young chaps 'pulling out' then standing there, chap out, looking rather pleased with themselves (as I would be if I'd just banged who they'd just banged).

There's an episode later in the season where a five minute long chunk of expository dialogue is delivered by Mayor Carcetti at the same time as he graphically coaches two naked prostitutes in putting on a convincing lesbian sex show. So, that'll be fun for your fellow passengers.

I don't mind, as long as I've got time to pick my Fire up and sort-of angle it away from other people. Normally it sits on a table :S

[edit]Are they any legal issues about playing things like that in public?

Oh, and I'm not a table sitting commuter, can't be dealing with the foot fights. I'll inevitably find myself sitting across from a big guy, with big feet and long legs, probably engrossed in watching boobies on a kindle fire or something...

I'm a disabled and elderly seat stealer instead :D Privacy and legroom.

I'm willing to guess 'probably'. As long as there are no obviously underage kids around you at the time though I don't imagine it's an issue.

Nearly done with book 2 and just seen ep 6 but I have to make a point and ask a question... Book/series 2 spoiler below...

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Was Renly's relationship with Loras so blatant in the book? I remember getting a 'gay' vibe of the Night of Flowers (duh!) and of course (Book2) Loras freaked the fuck out when Renly died but did it ever go so far as shaving chests and blowjobs in the book?

That bit raised an eyebrow at the Squirt homestead as well. I managed to totally forget that whole relationship if it was in the books.

I'm currently halfway through the most recent book - I still have no idea how it'll all end ( if it ever does ).

My current guess is

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Stuff beyond the wall goes a bit frisky, the Watch end up saving everyone, and Jon ends up as a sort of King of the North / Watch Commander, with DRAGONS being released on the south, and Tyrion being king over a burnt out mess of nothing.

It all depends on Jon's parentage, which has all but been stated directly by book 5. The implications of that will be jolly important, though of course Martin will fuck everyone over just to break our hearts plenty over the remaining two volumes, if that's what we get.

I'd keep reading book five if I were you, though.

Jon's parentage spoiler for those who've read all and missed it:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Offspring of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryan, who were lovers, as seen in hallucinations by Danaerys. Robert Baratheon's intervention precipitated some Shakespearean tragedy of the heart and Lyanna's "Promise me, Ned" was for him to look after the child, which is why this upstanding man was willing to upset his wife by bringing a bastard home. This makes Jon Danaery's nephew and a very suitable spouse by her standards.

As a skin-changer,can he get inside a Dragon...?

Read the

Danerys dream sequences

In whatever book they happen again, then, bearing in mind the imagery used, look for references to the same things regarding other characters in all five books. It bears out.

Or, you could just do a Google of this stuff using the appropriate words, but I'd leave that until you've finished "Dance". It's being raked and re-raked like a zen garden on the forums, and those tend to be full of spoilers.

Question for you though...

Q: What would they need at the Wall to not only repel the Others, but man the wall for the forseeable future, given the amount of fighting men Wezteros has lost in the War of the Numerous Silly Kings?

A: The Unsullied.

I've totally sucked MrsP into the TV series. She pretended to not be watching it, but when the Dothraki were speaking foreign (and the stupid DVD rip that I have failed to offer subtitles, /firstworldproblems) she was annoyed and asked me what they were talking about. :)

I thought it was as slow and dull an episode as we've ever had. All glowering and no deflowering. Not sure about the castings of Melisandre, Stannis or Craster. Or Slynt.

Still, better than anyhitng else on telly, so what can you do?

Any idea when Season 1 will be on UK iTunes? It is on US iTunes now, and the DVDs are out here. I just don't want the faff of switching machines/iTunes accounts.

Melisandre got them out, though. Fair play.

New characters were good - Balon and 'Yana'. I'd snog Yana. Also her out of Skins is Craster's missus, Gilly. Slynt is still shit.
