Oh, a question, sdg! We've all been getting the same XP after each session, thought it might have been characters who make the kills, made successful rolls, calmed the wolves etc, that scooped up points, or is it just down to DM's discretion?

XP is shared equally amongst the group. If it was for kills, or damage dealt, you'd get parties full of Barbarians all vying to deal max damage and totally screwed if they needed to detect a trap, or sneak somewhere, or use ranged attacks. XP is also awarded for completing encounters without violence, so if you came across someone who could be an enemy but could be willing to negotiate and you were able to successfully resolve the encounter through conversation, you'd be awarded the same amount of XP as if you had fought and won and you may also receive different rewards.
Another reason the party receive XP together is so you level up together because encounters scale to party level so like a video game, you don't want a L2 joining a L10 and wandering into an area that should be locked off until level 8.

Last night, you all earned 250 XP so please add that to your character sheets. Myp, you'll be on 325XP now and able to level up.

Is entagnellele a ranged spell or an area of effect from where you're standing? If the latter, does it entangle We as well?

Animlll Frend was good for us.

Entangle sounds useful. Having something tied up and unable to do a hurty is as good as someone doing a hurty and then having to heal.

I'll take that instead, if it works like Chuus laughter spell last night it'll be handy yeah.

Hmm yeah it creates a 20' square area of difficult terrain, not a problem for me but could hinder us. Maybe I take Animal friend back then, keeps it well in character too :luv:

When I was making my notes I wrote "hunch shoulders, chin out, bit squeaky and cowardly, mafia accent" so that's a fair assessment :D

For Klaarg, I was going for an evil stoner vibe. So totally happy to be ripping something apart and bullying the goblins but pretty chill about it.

The Wyrmwood gaming stuff is lovely. Wyrmwood built the custom table for Critical role and it is goals.

When Covid is over you're all going to have to relocate to Fife so we can have in person games.

Unseen Servant! Invisible, mindless, shapeless ghost butler!

I liked the voices but as I'm awful at them, Ivo is staying 3rd person strictly!

I think character stuff can be a bit easier when it's a bit less life-or-death, like in a town or on the road. Also, I'm not 100% certain I know what Ivo's character is yet...

One of the sites I cover is in Liverpool and once I'm allowed to travel again I'll be down there pretty regularly but I don't know how happy Jen would be if I started taking a five hour detour off the M6 for a game of D&D :DD

Fife it is. We have the best fish and chips in Scotland (four times), cheap(ish) house prices, fresh seafood landing daily, the 2nd best university in the UK and oldest in the English speaking world, the home of golf, and a Brewdog. What's not to like!

It can be hard to know your character, especially this early.

How do you think your characters are feeling now, having had such a big fight with something that was pretty scary looking and a wolf that came close to ripping some throats out?

How do you feel about the goblin you have as a prisoner, and what might have to be done with him?

How do you feel about the dream you had?

How do you feel about Gundren and Sildar, where do you think they are and are you worried about them?

How do you feel about each of your fellow party members?

What do you want to know about them?

Would you confide in any of them about how you're feeling about any of the above?

Zardoth is sad he couldn't have saved the wolf but knew it was to save his colleagues. He'll want to make up for it by saving as many critters as he can.
The goblin prisoner will hopefully shed some light on where Gundren and Sildar are, he will happily dispatch him, if he's unhelpful, after being attacked earlier by his cohorts and the way they mistreated the wolves.

Feels more of a connection with everyone in the party now they've been through some tough fights and come out on top. Still a bit standoffish as he's not used to company anyway but he trusts everyone... but is disturbed a little by Ivo. He'll tell everyone about the weird dream and that he needs to talk to some other Druids about 'Moon club'.

This is correct, but there's a bit more to it.

Some spells have a material component with no gp value next to it, see 'Tenser's Floating Disk'. You cast this spell using either materials from your component pouch, or using your arcane focus.

Some spells have a material component with a gp value next to it, see 'Find Familiar'. This also specifics 'which must be consumed by fire in a brass brazier', therefore these component are consumed in the casting of the spell and you have to have more for further castings.

Some spells have a material component with a gp value next to it, see 'Identify'. This does not specify the component is consumed, therefore you can repeatedly use the same pearl and feather as the spellcasting focus but you must have the material with a gold specification on the named materials to cast the spell, your component pouch or arcane focus are not suitable substitutes.

Post subject:  Re: Dungeons and Dragons

Note that each of those spells also have (ritual) written after the school and level. This means you can cast them as a ritual spell which takes 10 minutes of concentration. If you cast the spell in that way, you still need the components but don't use a spell slot.

Ermintrude is being reminded of sausages each time they split a goblin open and see the entrails.

Post subject:  Re: Dungeons and Dragons

I was a bit wary when I stumbled across the gang of misfits coming out of the cave, but once I plucked up the courage to talk to that wood elf fella I felt a lot better. The dwarf kept shouting "SAUSAGES" over and over on his watch, so I stayed in the mulberry bush until he drifted off to sleep: "...sausaggehs...zzz"

I was a reckless old fool going right up into Clark Gable's face as I almost met my maker at the hands of the wolf, but luckily my new-found friends managed to finish him off. The bard, while thick as orc shit, was kind enough to sing me a healing song to get my pecker back up again. I don't trust that spud he lugs about though.

I'm not really sure what to do with the goblin. Torture is a little...distasteful for my liking, but it may get us some very valuable information. Hmmm.

For some reason I'm concerned the rest of my party won't be there when I wake up tomorrow. Just a weird feeling...

All my brain is doing is thinking about what to do next week :S

a. We'll have to re-tame the wolves or tell em to feck orf somewhere, I reckon. Lest they turn on We. Not North, cos they'll bum our oxen.

b. Interrogate the captured gorblun to see what's over that bridge!

c. Tie him up with something more substantial than rope. I bet his horrible little claws would work away at rope. Ermintrude knows from their partner!

b. I need to get my rope back! I am naked without it!
