:( If no Ermintrude and possibly no sdg, shall we call it as cancelled now and save the uncertainty? Save our poor DM from any last minute faffing.

I wonder what our intrepid weirdos got up to while they were off for a day in a new city?

Once they'd all finished punching Myptic's freshly tattooed arm I mean.

This Yartar place sounds like it's quite a big city, and if it's a fortified town it'll be quite crowded I guess. I imagine that's not Zardoth's comfort zone.

Also, I think Ivo is going to get symbols of Xunt tattooed on the soles of his feet and the palms of his hands, for additional oddness.

Post subject:  Re: Dungeons and Dragons

Ermintrude is pacing in and out of the tattoo parlour, torn between his dreams and attunement slots while Myptic is now off to show his arm to librarians.

Ivo is seeing double having quaffed half a mild to steady his nerves before Xunting his palms and feet.

Shuu has a captive/puzzled audience outside a tavern with Krung 'standing' watch next to the tips jar.

Zardoth is asking spiders if they've seen any dinosaurs.

Author:  Dimrill [ Tue Apr 20, 2021 13:17 ]
Post subject:  Re: Dungeons and Dragons

S.not the attunement slot that's bothering me. It's the 1000g re-ink on deattunementnenet. If it was just a matter of pressing the needle next to the tatt to re-attune I'd have it in an art beyut.

I've only just read this bit and would ask our DM how would this happen to our beloved Druid? Would he have to pay a specialist Druid / Shaman or would Mother Nature bless him?

Consider the object a magical body modification is bound to instead of tattoo needles, such as branding irons or enchanted dragon scales.

Unearthed Arcana is playtest material, so it's WoTC but not 5e RAW. Having said that, I don't see any reason we couldn't use the body mod rules.

The absorption tattoo worked differently in the playtest rules by the looks of it. Published rules are that it grants resistance, so you take half damage from that damage type. The playtest rules say "When you take damage of the chosen type, you can use your reaction to gain immunity against that instance of the damage, and you regain a number of hit points equal to half the damage you would have taken. Once this reaction is used, it can't be used again until the next dawn." What do you all prefer?

Hmm I guess 1/2 damage all the time would be handier. Think I'd sooner go for that.

Thank you all, party and octopuseseses for not letting me get devoured by a tentacle monster in a sewer.

Post subject:  Re: Dungeons and Dragons

Taking the decision as the DM to play it as the creature would is brutal when you’re rolling as well as I was with every attack hitting and dealing max damage straight off the bat. If it hadn’t been grappled by the octopus, it would have gone for the stun from the slam attack and as soon as Ivo was stunned it would have dived down to the bottom of its lair and pulled Ivo with it. I’m so, so glad you rolled for Octopus on your summoned creatures and managed a grapple because I would have hated the potential outcome, especially if I DM’d my first character death as a result of such brilliant roleplay.
FYI, I decided the only two creatures at that challenge rating that might be found in that location were giant octopus or giant toad. Octopus was named first in the list so odd number was octopus and even number was toad and you rolled a three. That’s how in the balance Ivo’s life was tonight.

Thank you sdg, that was great fun. Even as Ivo was getting his head slammed against the sewer floor by a tentacle monster, he was still hoping there was actually a secret speakeasy down there.

I'm 100% behind the DM playing monsters as they should be, even if it means a death. Walking into traps should be dangerous and I think the risk of death needs to be real.

Sadly, tentacle monsters are resistant to Dwarf Ass Sweat Poison damage, so it wouldn't have been that big a deal.

It definitely was a good session. I had no idea where it was going to go - so many different decision points that could have changed things significantly.

Formal Krung is very snazzy, and Myptic's silver collar is well fancy! For some reason I don't expect Ermintrude dresses up too often though but that blue mohawk is very dapper.

In my non-Beex campaign people rushed ahead and fell through the fragile floor on 3 separate occasions, despite being explicitly warned that the floor was dangerous. I could imagine the members of Rummage Inc rolling their eyes and cussing every single time it happened.

In a campaign I was playing, my dwarven cleric Bandar Fiercebeard/Wargrider/Buttslider (his name changed every time he did something well cool) cast augery to ask his God whether the way south was the good path to take, and received confirmation that it was. Bandar duly strode off down the passage and fell into a spiked pit.

As a result Bander spent the entire campaign thinking that his deity was a wanker, which is great fun to play.
