First proper session of my other campaign has led to some observations:

1.) FantasyGrounds app is a UX nightmare, like it's been designed by some UNIX programmers from the 80s who hate everyone.

2.) People who don't quite know the rules and aren't "gamey" types in general can end up with some bonkers character builds.

3.) Holy cow, I had forgotten how weak and flimsy you are at level one. Two characters got one-hit-killed by some well-rolling snakes.

4.) Playing a slightly obnoxious character is fun.

There are so many VTTs, I see OwlBear Rodeo has started been recommended a lot in DM groups, I think because it's free and possibly works on ipad which most don't. I'm glad I made the switch to Foundry so early. There are new content announcement multiple times a week and the support in Discord is brilliant.

One of my friends wants to run an all Bard campaign, I think that could be pretty funny.

:metul: (They'll be equally as awesome once the party has gelled more.)

It's mainly work colleagues, so the atmosphere and relationships are a little different. It's also a bigger group - seven players plus DM! - which is too big really and makes it trickier for everyone to get their say, so some of the quieter people can get sidelined a bit.

Our FantasyGrounds / Zoom setup seems to have more tech issues than the Foundry / Discord combo too, so everything is a bit slower.

There will come a time in Triboar when this scene of love, hope, bravery and weirdness in the face of great danger will be cast in Bronze and there will be much dancing and feasting every year from henceforth on 'Enigmoid Day'. Children will giddily unwrap their gifts of 1 covered dice and set fire to paper mâché orcs with their makeshift tasers. Then finally the Splitting of the slightly warmed Giant by a Dwarfen axe closes proceedings for another year...

If you have the means of transport, it's well worth the effort to drive the short distance and catch the sun setting over the sea from Wirral.

Ohh, level 6!

Quote:
At 6th level, you learn to magically ward yourself against attack and to turn an enemy’s failed strike into good luck for yourself. When a creature makes an attack roll against you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on that roll. If the attack misses you, your next attack roll against the creature has advantage if you make it before the end of your next turn.

And another spell. Level 5 -> 6 isn't too exciting for Warlocks, although I think Ermintrude gets another stat boost!

Well I suppose our first duty is to deliver this big lump of valuable metals to Everlong. Cos I can only see increased peril if we don't. ANd then Ermintrude would like to take down this Weevil guy at [place I didn't note down], because a grand each sounds very nice indeed.

Just beasts. There’s a table somewhere that shows you all the beasts by CR and by region they can be found in.

Owlbear for me.

Quote:
Savage Companions. Although they are more intelligent than most animals, owlbears are difficult to tame. However, with enough time, food, and luck, an intelligent creature can train an owlbear to recognize it as a master, making it an unflinching guard or a fast and hardy mount.

Zardoth has an Animal handling proficiency (+7) ...easy! Plus I know one that already loves me.

And by looking at the map, along with some research ( such as finding out where the hell Everlund is ), we're going to be making trips of 100's of miles.

How safe is this countryside we're traversing? Are we going to be able to hand wave it as "3 Weeks later you rock up in Everlund"?

Not outside the realms of possibility, although you’re not going to encounter them for sale in most locations. If you ask the right people the right questions, you might get a lead...

There might be some travelling montages but there will absolutely be threat during travel so expect to be determining marching order, night watch, and planning how you’re going to camp out safely.
