Not sure... there’s a certain level where I can use spells while wild shaped so I guess it’s a possibility.

Be nice also to BE Great Grey Wolf Sif* and jump all over everyone with a Great Sword in my mouth. :metul:

*Dark Souls boss

When you wild shape, you retain your mental stats (Int, Wis, Cha) and adopt the creatures physical stats (Str, Dex, Con). Your weapon using stats are either Str or Dex so in your wild shape form you wouldn’t have the weapon proficiency, the attack modifier, the hit modifier (or the opposable thumbs!).

Note that at higher levels when the magic users may have access to polymorph, a polymorph spell works differently from wildshape and the polymorphed person would adopt all the stats of the chosen creature.

Yes, at the start of each day you can select/prepare new spells.

I’ve finally found the next set I need. So unique, wooden, not really bright and garish. I adore them. :luv:

The starter set dice which I think was maybe five sets, each a different solid colour and then these ones. I’ve only bought dice at the game store I used to play at so it’s fairly common Chessex dice sets. I want to get a really nice set for my DM ones though and I like the idea of wooden.

Just a reminder that I'm on my own tonight so will need to wait until both kids are settled before I join. Hopefully won't be too long, they've not napped today.

I think Ermintrude's Ogre-slaughtering round was the single most successful turn we've had so far!

Ivo is going to use his 4th level to become even more creepily charismatic. He now has the disconcerting intensity of a guy who sits opposite you on in an otherwise empty tube carriage and just stares at you without blinking.

I'm tempted by "Locate Animals or Plants"

For finding squirrels to interogate.

But more seriously, there are some very handy L2 spells.
Lesser restoration, for removing status effects (see spider concerns)
Enhance ability (for helping with rolls)
Phantasmal force (for creating bridges that arent there, among other things
Suggestion (For mainly non combat hijinks. Could be very useful)

Good tactics save the day again. That fight had the potential to turn pretty nasty but sleep on the guard to stop him warning the rest of them stopped you walking into a readied band, Cast Without Trace and an unusually high stealth roll from Ermintrude got you a massive advantage when you were able to deal with the three asleep and the caltrops and bonfire changed the flow of the battleground. When the ogre got through and landed that hit on Ermintrude I thought the tide might turn but none of the orcs were landing their hits with their spears and dissonant whispers forcing the ogre back turned the tide back in favour of Rummage Inc. If that epic Ermintrude charge hadn’t included a natural 20, the ogre would have still been standing!

Thanks for tonight sdg! I really enjoyed it. Had we faced all those orcs and the ogre in an open brawl we might have had trouble, I think, but better tactics, battlefield control, the advantage of surprise and the 1st Battalion, Heavy Bear Cavalry won the day!

I don’t think Zardoth will have seen a Giant Octopus yet. Xanathars guide has updated tables but I think we decided Zardoth’s background was forest so there’s not reason he’d have encountered one. As soon as you come across one on your adventures, it’s fair game!

Ignore the grassland section at the end of the last photo.

Yeah... I know. I’ve studied the CR1 Woodland Critter list a fair few times.

Giant Toad is ok though, right?

I bet Sildar is going to be well chuffed with We for defending the town from a potential invasion. He might even upgrade us to Overcoat level with the Lord's Alliance!

Yeah, there will have been lakes in the forest with some creatures like toads, just not large enough bodies of water for Giant Octopus.

Absolutely, it could have been a bloodbath and I wondered if we'd have a couple of players go down tonight but other than Myptik getting a javelin through the stomach for a wee while and Ermintrude getting club smashed I don't think anyone was seriously threatened.

What did everyone think about the new upgrades? Was there anything you didn't like? Was it showing you the golden halo round the character who's turn it was during combat?

I've found how to change Zardoth's token to a creature token with one click and set it to retain the mental stats so wildshape should be even smoother and I've preloaded all of the creatures from the table from XGtE so they're ready to go.

AND before this the decision to have an afternoon nap at Camp-Necro before heading off in the dark to Wyvern Tor (dragging an almost blind Wizard) meant that 3 Orcs were kipping too :DD

Taking these new magics:

Guidance - Cantrip:
You touch one willing creature. Once before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to one ability check of its choice. It can roll the die before or after making the ability check. The spell then ends.

Protection from Poison - Lvl2
You touch a creature. If it is poisoned, you neutralize the poison. If more than one poison afflicts the target, you neutralize one poison that you know is present, or you neutralize one at random.

For the duration, the target has advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and it has resistance to poison damage.

(Should be handy knowing there's a Poisonous Spider in our near future)

Hello, me again.
The record scratch moment of me realising I hadn't rolled with advantage on the 'synchronised sleep murder' probably helped with our mightily heroic result in that cave. If that orc had raised the alarm sooner and we'd used actions sorting him out and not covering those corridors it could have been a lot more hectic.

Feats are an alternative to the ability score improvement that you get at Level 4. At L4 you can either add two points on to one ability score (such as increase Dex from 14 to 16) or add one point onto two different score (such as take Dex from 14 to 15 and Con from 10 to 11). DnDBeyond will calculate the impact of this but every time you reach an even number, your modifier changes. So if you increased your dex from 14 to 16, your dex mod would change from +2 to +3. Changing some of your abilities will also have knock on impacts elsewhere. If you were a monk and your dex mod went up, your AC would also go up one for example. If you cast spells using Wisdom, like a druid, and your Wis mod went up, your spell attack mod and save DC would also go up.

You can choose to give up the ability score increase and go for a feat instead. Feats are detailed on pg 165 onwards of the PHB.
