7pm works for me, but might struggle making any earlier.

If its anything like my famy zoom quizzes, the first 20 mins will be fixing odd connection issues and admiring each others backdrops.

7.30 is good for me. Are we doing video via zoom?

Discord would be better i think. Especially if sdg is creating a server as a central repository.

I'd plump for Discord too. Just cos I already have an account and I'm lazy.

Ohhh, I have an discocords account. Is it worth using the app, or is the web interface ok?

The web interface is usually fine, but it can have sound quality issues in voice chat. The app is really good.

Have you setup a Discord? I was going to send out a Zoom invite and figure out Discord for next time but if you've set one up I can join it. You'll need to tell me how though :S

I don't mind doing it, I just don't want to do it if someone has already done it.

I don’t think anyone would do anything without your say-so, DM!

I've not used either before but have set up accounts on both now. It's entirely up to you DM.

Is there anything else that'd be handy to have ready, SDG? I've the PHB, paper, pens, dice etc. just wondered if there's anything else that would be handy.

No, that's everything. Tonight we'll run through session zero stuff which includes groundrules for things like hard lines none of us want to bring into the game, and what number of people have to call off in a week for the game to be postponed, as well introduce characters, explain spell casting, answer any questions, then kick off the adventure.
Everyone needs their character sheet open in front of them or printed out, access to dice to roll either electronically or physically, and I'll trust your results (a failure can often be more fun than a success!), and a login for discord. You may also want a notepad and pencil to note down things like XP gained and to track hit points and effects, although if you are using DnDBeyond you can track these on there. I'm the type of player who makes loads of notes though so I always have a pencil and paper when I'm playing to write down places of interest, people we meet etc.

Good luck, little murderhobos. Remember: if it moves, it's an enemy, therefore fireball.
If it doesn't move, it's a mimic, therefore fireball.

Much clefting was done. We investigated fissures and hid in a cranny.

I have ordered a phhhhhhhhb. £31.50 on Darksphere who have subsidised shipping for D&D it seems. The Tome of Foes was out of stock otherwise I'd've'v'e' snaffled that up too,

I got mine for £24.65! From Book Safari through Evil Amazon.
Maybe I should spend the saving on better dice.

I think I might be able to get away with a follow up on Monday 23rd if we go for a 7:30pm start. It gives me less time to properly figure out Roll20 and to prep so let me see how work goes this week and if I'm not too overwhelmed we should be good. Roll20 worked fine last night without token to give you context of the environment you were in so it's not essential that I use all of the capabilities in it.

Roll20 is a pretty good but it’s a pig to figure out. The interface is pretty opaque. Feel free to ask “how do I...” type questions, I think I know the tool pretty well now.

That's really good to know, thank you. I used the maps and fog of war to hide parts last night but I didn't know how to bring character tokens onto the map and I wasn't confident the fog of war was working because the visual clues weren't consistent so I had to take a gamble and ask what everyone saw, which fortunately was only what I wanted them to see, then uncover sections at a time with the reveal tool.
For next week, I'd ideally like to be able to drop character tokens onto the maps and come away from augmented theatre of the mind style so I'll do some more tutorials and then maybe come back with specific questions.
