Does this Monday evening work for everyone for the first session? I’m hoping to get some time this weekend when the kids are sleeping to iron out final details.

Unfortunately I need to make a detour to the Ancient Dwarven Library of Akrenom as there’s a book there I desperately need for our quest. I’ll be four weeks as it’s quite a treacherous journey. I’ll meet you further along. Just send me a message by carrier gryphon

Loving the ruff!

Poor old Gundren the dwarf must be in pretty dire straits if we're the best people he could rustle up to help him deliver his cart of supplies.

Did Mr The Vision say he was in? I don't think he's been in this thread for a bit!

This is how it feels to Ermintrude since it’s been so long since he’s tried that tasty, tasty sausage ( :hat: ). Maybe that’s the result of meat sweat induced fever dreams?

What you know for sure is that you’ve never tasted a sausage as good as the ones from Minick’s butchers. You were shocked when you returned one day to find the shop had closed, the owner relocated. You’ve been asking around since then and have heard the shop might have reopened, in a small frontier town called Phandalin. The road there has been known to have bandits but you’ve heard about a job to accompany a wagon there with an adventuring party...which would give you extra gold for spending on sausages when you get there.

Bosch and flimshaw.

Quote:
All was going well for Ermintrude. They were working their way up the Dorf military ranks with good speed until the fateful day their eyes locked with a breathtaking sight on the battlefield. Dismissed early from their job of being a big bad soljah due to gross deviancy, they were forced to find work on the bar bouncing circuit. Returning each night with their meagre pay in hand, life with their new soulmate Schmitschut the goblin was tough.

Unable to sire children together due to goblins only having a cloaca, they adopted an orphan teenage troll, Rukschmut. It wasn't an easy time living in a small cave. Rukschmut suffered from sleep deprevation due to the constant earpiercing slurping din of mutual rimming coming from his parent's bed.

One day after spending a full two weeks bedbound with beriberi of the ballbag and bell, Ermintrude woke to find both of his family members dead. They had died in the night from botulism. Tracing the cause of their death to poorly prepared sausages, Ermintrude swore a stubbed toe at the least upon all sausage makers.

What's the INSPIRATION box for? It must be important being right at the top!

https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/phb/p ... nspiration

It's a way for DM's to reward players for playing to character.

For example, when Ivo does something related to his religion, Zardoth helps out Nature or Ermintrude rims a goblin, sdg can award inspiration, and it can be traded in for advantage on a roll.

I resent the implication that Ermintrude jumps on any and every goblin that crosses their path like some sort of crazed and starved cloaca slag. They only rimmed, OUT OF LOVE, their partner Schmitschut.

Is this still a go-er with four of us playing, SDG?

I think TheVision is too busy selling Kobold pies to Halflings.

Character creation is probably the most complicated bit to be honest. Sorry you can’t make it, when we finish this one if we’re starting a new one we can revisit and see if you’re free.

Yeah, D&D has a *lot* of rules, but once you have a character and have grokked the basic "Roll a D20 and add or subtract some stuff" idea, you can gey pretty far without.much else.

Our first meet-up will be a session zero where we discuss the mega game, so things like what are red lines we don’t cross, what are our expectations for the game, what do we do if there’s conflict between people playing in the game etc. We can touch on how encounters/skill checks/playing the game generally works.

I'm going to have to stop looking in this thread, my fomo is kicking off. I only finish work at 9:30 on Mondays and have too many commitments at the moment anyway but it sounds brilliant. Maybe next time if you run another?

SDG! I know I’m getting a little ahead of myself but the Druid stuff in PHB refers to Beast Challenge rating chart (for what you can be at different levels), is this chart in the Monster book? Does that mean I can haz MONSTER BOOK because I need it? :D

I actually don’t know where there’s a chart, the MM is organised by monster and tells you their stats including CR but there’s not a table anywhere in the book that I know of that lists them all.
Here’s an example of a page from the MM. The challenge rating is on the left hand side of the stat block, at the end of the block of text below the ability stats.

If I were playing a Druid, id find a handy reference table online (probably D&D beyond) that listed monsters and beasts by CR, then refer to the MM to find out more details. So yes, feel free to buy the book ;)
