Hello gentlefolk. BeeX Cottage II: The Second One is upon us.

Details are now emerging:

Stenson Hill Farm & Cottage in Derby is the venue.

£2,205 is the total cost, which works out at between £70-90 a head, depending on numbers. That is for three nights. Even at the top end, you can't beat £30 a night for a massive place with a full sized snooker table, large gardens, and a load of Beexers.

14-15-16(-17) October 2011 are the dates. The 17th is the Monday - we have to vacate it at some point around midday on that day, but the owner's a nice chap, so any time vaguely lunchtimeish will be fine. Last year I think about half the people left on the Sunday, but I'm hoping more stay around until the Monday this year.

Please note - partners and children are welcome. Please don't think that having kids around will be any kind of burden though. Other than the smaller cottage being designated as the 'quiet one' there really shouldn't be any change in how you need to act. There will still be large scale versions of Mafia being played, and the Second Annual Rev Owen Memorial Quiz (whoever won the hat last year should bring it again, if they still have it).

Full payments of 80 pounds each are currently being taken.

In like Flynn.

Will discuss with Miss Chap, and probably mention it to colleague and extreme BeEx lurker Zeppo.

Any of those dates is good, although September 9th is a day after my birthday, which will likely make me a target for japery and abuse, so I'm going to discount that one ;)

IN. Both me and SistaCrumpet.

BUT: we have a wedding on the weekend of 16th Oct and friends visiting from America somewhere during 16th-23rd Sept. So that only leaves two weekends we can do; the 10th and the 30th.

There is a 2nd house, I'm sure one will the quieter than the other for sleeping babies etc. so the other one can be used for partying and the like.

Unless there is some kind of order preventing you from being near children....? :P

Last time, the Big House was where all the drinking happened and Small House was where the music instruments lived. Neither one was exactly quiet...

I was envisaging the smaller house being the quieter spot, and if we want to play Rock Band type games, there are plenty of rooms in the bigger house in which to have a go.

Given how much trouble we had with the TV last time, I might just bring one this time, which means it could go anywhere we wanted. Plus drumkit, Xbox, cabling, and some sort of speaker arrangment.

PLUS THE BLOODY GAME THIS TIME.

Last time this got used more for jamming with Real Instruments than it did for Rock Band. I think that's very cool indeed.

Other way round. I recently sued all children and potential children in the world. They're not allowed within 50 feet of me or my stuff.

Why? I've no problem with kids, but if I'm going on what basically amounts to a holiday, I'd rather not have them knocking about the place while I'm, say, describing in FURIOUS DETAIL exactly what kind of cunt I'm angry with this week. Plus I'm liable to tell them at least one terrible, scarring truth about the world.

I don't begrudge it though, obviously - I know a fair few of you lot have wee sproglets and you need to have your fun as well.

Or, indeed, explaining quite what the strange horse/man thing is doing...

But, yeah, I can see where you're coming from. If there is a way of keeping certain room adults only I think we could overcome it.

Well, that's down to your preferences SA and I do understand that but I think they'll be ok and can be kept apart from those who don't want anything to do with them. Don't count yourself out entirely at this stage though, eh? The children involved may be limited to the tiny babies, in which case, all they understand is food, soiling themselves and the fact they can't breathe when you blow in their faces.

How do you know my ex-wife, etc.

Equally, I wouldn't want to be there and have the kids feel like they weren't welcome. I could go and ignore them, but kids can be sensitive to stuff like that. I remember well some of the big fambly parties we used to have. I don't want to be miserable old uncle arsehole*.

*Well okay, I do, but not all the time.

Relatively few Beexers have kids between the ages of 2 and 15, I think. You're an exception, as is Grim... (just); I'm struggling to think of any more...? As you say, flis, having babies around is very different to having kids underfoot.

I don't think there will be a multitude of kids there. If we bring ours, and DP and possibly the Rileys bring theirs, it's just three tiny babies (and if anyone thinks they'll swear in front of the kids more than Maria and Riles, then that's a brave bet to take).

Only other potential mini-beexers might be from Grim... or GJ? There may be others I don't know of who are equally welcome, but it'll still be designed to be like last time, and not some sort of creche. The kid-friendly tag was purely added because I'm bringing a baby, so it would seem harsh to disqualify any others!

Add to this the fact that kids over the age of...1 are more of a pain in the arse than little tiny ones, I don't think many people would *want* to bring their older children to this kind of thing anyway. A Beex picnic/day out, yes; 2 nights in a cottage, not so much.

The fact it's open to kids shouldn't put anyone off because off.

Hm. Look, just for the record, I don't want anyone to feel like it actually matters what I think about the kids thing. What I mean is, please don't be put off or feel like I'd be put out if you do want to bring your kids along - I'm just one person and there are already like 15 people going who are clearly fine with it, so don't worry about it.

I don't think it will change too much for people without kids there - there'll be no mass "group" events like the quiz or the Mafia Scum from last time, and we'll have to sneer at the "plugged-in" people from within the same house, but that's about it.

It will, of course, be a nightmare for the people with the kids.

Agreed. Put the kids in the smaller house so we won't keep waking them up, and you've got a rota of parents that can check on them as needed. Stuff that happens during the day might be slightly different, but not much. Not an issue. And frankly one meet a year where kids are allowed seems more than reasonable.

Nonsense. Both of the above will take place.

Remember last time that some of the girls didn't want to play scum anyway and went elsewhere. This time they can go and look at babies.

This parenting lark is easy.
