I don't think I'm getting drunk enough on these works nights out. Woke up this morning to find that I'd done all the washing and set it out on the airer before going to bed. Don't remember doing it at all. That's the second time I've done that now.

Fuck me dude...is the radiator next to your bed? Might be worth turning it down if you can't move your bed away from it?

You need to be super careful with burns too, they can easily become infected. I really recommend going to the hospital, if you haven't already, just so it can be dressed properly. A decent dressing and proper cream can reduce any scarring too.

Ask the Dr. you see about sleeping while your skin is essentially boiling off you too, you might be right, it doesn't really sound normal!

Nah, it's alright, they're in such a place that they're not going to be torn or anything unless I decide to become a fakir. Going down now anyway. The radiator's been next to my bed for aaaaages and it's not happened before, but the last few weeks I've been sleeping poorly.

I've always had trouble with sleeping and being bloody exhausted most of the time. Since the night terrors and that all but stopped I've not wanted to bother a doctor with it, but I do need to sort something out. Might as well while I'm in london, so if I'm referred I won't have to hike across the country.

Now you can 'be' Kate Middleton:

I think my gaming gland has snapped.

Hardly touched my 360 since Christmas and apart from the recent Star Craft 2 splurge the only other games I play with any regularity are Word Feud and Mega Jump...

I know I've said I'll wait until games drop to £10 before I'll buy them, but thinking about it I could head out at lunchtime and grab a load of bargains for this price but something is stopping me. I think it's knowing that I'd be spending time on something that's not as enjoyable as it once was to me when I could be doing something more productive... or just wasting my time doing different things for a change. :)

I've jacked it all in years before and came back when there was a glut of ZOMG titles that came out for the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox. I know there are great games out there now, but the spark has gone. It all feels stale again for me.

Just saying, like.

I miss Dimrill.

Clarkson's a knob for saying what he did - this could be one controversy too far for him and TG?

Apart from anything else, TG is (or at least was) very popular in Mexico. Me? I just cannot understand it.

In any event, are we Brits in any position to criticise a country's cuisine? Shit, at least Mexico have one, they haven't needed to borrow (badly and tastelessly, in the main) from everyone else because, when all's said and done, sausage and chips doesn't really cut the mustard. Your average Mexican surely eats far better and more healthily that the average Dominoes-stuffing, borderline obese Brit?

I didn't see last night's TG but last week's was dire - who among us seriously thought that that contrived nonsense Aussie presenter thing was worth tuning in for? Running out of ideas, boring, boring.

My recommendation is to burn all Babylon 5 DVDs and never watch that pile'o'crap. Terrible writing, terrible acting, just terrible.

Sorry, but i'm bitter having watched the whole 5 series waiting for it to get good, as people told me it would. The final nail in the coffin was the final 3 episodes, which was literally 2 solid hours of everyone going round saying goodbye to everyone else.

Fuck you Babylon 5, fuck you and your writers and your actors and anyone who was ever involved in that travesty of a show!

:D

I think it was very much a product of its time , it was the first sci-fi series I remember to try and get some large and longer story arcs going , the end suffered from the usual 'finish the whole story on season 4 because they dont know if they have a season 5' and then finding they did.

I liked it at the time , but havent watched any of it since - so in answer to the original question - "It almost certainly wouldnt hurt but its probably not critical"

The last series of Babylon 5 could have effectively been pared down to four episodes titled, "The Londo Show" which would have been pretty good, if not up to previous standards. Everything else was absolutely awful. I too remember waiting for it to get good. A terrible season opening didn't forbode well, with it revolving around an assassin who (no, but yes!) carries around a musical toy-box and winds it and listens to it tinkle and who talks to himself and arrgh. C'mon. Is this the best you can do?

And evidently it was, followed up as it was by the most tediously unsympathetic telepaths in sci-fi history. (Pro-tip, if your bad guy is the immensely charismatic Walter Koenig, don't cast a load of incredibly dull Timotei advert people as your good guys.)

The London stuff alone was good. His being trapped in a nightmare of his own creation was gripping stuff, and I really felt for the guy. Shame the series badies revolved around 'the Drakh', the most rubbish looking aliens in the history of alway. Even their spaceships looked rubbish. It's suspicious how every new spaceship design went all rubbish once Foundation Imaging left. The new battles still looked spangly at the time, but the design was TERRIBLE.

Even Neil Gaiman's episode was crippled at birth. Some neat ideas hampered by bad execution ('cepting the Lennier & Morden stuff) and some truly risible comedy wasting the great Penn & Teller. ARGH. It's all coming back! I hated on sci-fi for years after that! Argh!

(Looking back the second half of Series 1 is pretty damn good, actually. And my favourite period. Series 2 is great. Series 3 is mostly great and series 4 is very good with chunks of filler and worrying signs of sloppiness, tedium and the revelation that Delenn & Sheridan being in love is a VERY BAD THING for viewers wanting to hold onto their dignity everywhere.)

Sorry, but i'm bitter having watched the whole 5 series waiting for it to get good, as people told me it would. The final nail in the coffin was the final 3 episodes, which was literally 2 solid hours of everyone going round saying goodbye to everyone else.

Oh indeed. I watched it a couple of years ago, having never seen it before. I think people who watched it at the time have a very rose tinted view of B5, watching it now without any prior experience really shows up how poor it is.

Sure, it has an overarching story running through it, but that is its only plus point.

Also, they used an Amiga so that proves that it's not dead. Or something.

I loved B5 but I have only seen seasons 4 & 5 once.

Did you know it was one the first TV shows to be shot in 16:9?

Apart from the effects shots, which were rendered at NTSC 640x480, and then they destroyed all the assets so couldn't do anything but scale-and-trim from video for the DVD, so they look awful. Which is especially bad when it's live video with a tiny effect in it.

Londo was the only saving grace for me, some vaguely good acting in a sea of mediocrity.

The real kicker was going back reading JMS's comments on usenet for each episode, saying how emotional it all was, how nobody could fail to cry at certain scenes, how well written and clever some parts were. (e.g. how the Jack the Ripper episode was in no way a cliche, because he "wrote it in a different way"!)
He even used to say how incredible the acting was, especially Sinclair. Sinclair FFS! There has never been a worse actor on tv.

If it's any consolation, I thought Babylon 5 was a load of shit at the time, let alone now.

Guilty confession though: I was rather fond of Deep Space Nine back then.

As much as I love Mexican food (though it's rather difficult to get decent Mexican in Britain - not too surprising, I guess, seeing that there's not a huge Mexican immigrant community here), it appears that Mexico has the second highest obesity rate in the world after the US: http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib ... obese.html . So chalk one up for us, I guess!
