The best rollercoaster I've been on is the Dragon Khan at Port Aventura in Spain. 8 loops that thing has and quite a few people come off looking green. I wouldn't call myself a rollercoaster fan as I inevitably have to be coerced into going on them, but I always enjoy them when I do

My late mother loved rollercoasters, yet never actually saw what one looked like from the inside. Every coaster she ever road was with eyes firmly shut! :D

Happy Paddy's Day!

Somedays it's good to work in a uni. Today is one. Just seen a (female) student in hotpants, green socks pulled up to knees, tight green top, shamrocks on the cheek* and a tiny green top hat. Today, I love my job.

*On her face, Calm down Russ.

We need to remotely apply some changes to some sites using what we call (handily) a changes file.

E-mail from new company:
"[new company] will send the updated change lines for the file to yourself. Please can you copy back the amended changes file to ourselves."

This tells me two things. That they don't trust us to write changes to our own changes files. And second, that we have to send them back the amended ones because they can't trust us to fucking copy and paste! I am so angry right now, I'm not entertaining any further work this afternoon. Pacing the room instead.

I don't care about the merger. I care about being treated like an idiot.

I mean, yes, they don;t know who we are, bit we just had a conference call with them, and it would have been easier to say "oh hey, do you know about changes files and deal with them every day?" rather than just assume that we're a complete parade of shambling morons who can't tell their asses from a hole in the ground.

The best bit is the follow-up e-mail attaching the file, but instead of attaching the file he attached a copy of the previous e-mail. I am waiting to reply for when I am less filled with murderous rage.

Yes but that's the problem - whatever the intentions at a high level, there's always some dick (or group of dicks) on one side who decides that they don't want to communicate with or give any work to the "subordinates" in the deal, treating them as inferior, and hoping that they'll bugger off.

It's still going on here 4 years since we were taken over.

Can't find the deadpool thread but Micheal Gough is no longer breathing. You might remember him from Batman, but I remember him from Doctor Who:

Were you working out the G-forces for each ride whilst waiting in the queue? Or deciding how a rollercoaster could be self-powering by making the loops part of a giant dynamo?

Alton Towers is the best theme park in the UK, by a long way, however it still isn't that good compared to the US parks.
I love rollercoasters, have done ever since I was a kid, and will happily ride them over and over again :D I do recommend a trip to AT just to ride Nemesis at the very least, as that is still one of my favourite rides, even though it is getting on a bit these days!

My nerdism towards rollercoasters is limited to trying out different seating positions on each ride, as front/middle/back can make a significant difference on the experience and feel.

The best memory I have of Alton Towers was sitting between ("A girl's" - Ed) legs on the wooden roller coaster they had there as it went around. I'd fancied her for so, so many years.

After I got back to Kernow, I cried, as she fancied my mate, instead.

Is anyone else going to the Edible Garden Show on Saturday? I t appears that there is no 'refreshment' tent, and another sign that God, clearly does hate me. Oh, and MrsA's ex boyfriend and his wife are staying at MaliTowers that evening. Gotta be a great day.

Yay!

Sorry, I've probably missed this somewhere but is this a court order for access? What does it mean? She can stay over with you while Darryl (sp?) is away....? I don't understand family courts and access rights, I don't know how these things become an issue :( And hopefully never will. I'm glad things are coming right, for Kov too :)

Edit: by 'she' I mean Chloe :) Sorry!

Sorry Flis, I try to avoid posting more than a few words on my phone and this is the first tine I've had my PC on. It means that Chloe now legally lives with both parents, quite handy when it comes to which school she goes to etc.. but more importantly it means that Lisa can't stop Darryl from seeing her whenever she wants (she was using the access to Chloe to get what she wanted). Also in their Cafcass report Lisa agreed that I take over Darryl's access, so while he is away I have her three nights a week. :)

Looks like it might not end there though, there's a good chance one of her own friends is going to report her to social services for neglect! *waits to see if it actually happens this time and if anything is done about it*.

I was shaking when I came out of the court, I think these things go on for so long that it becomes normal life. The relief it was finally over was immense. I suspect that over the years we'll end up in there again at some point though. :(
