I can't make up my mind what was worse, Jupiter Moon (sci-fi soap shown on BSB's Galaxy Channel and made by Central) or Babylon 5.

On the upside, Jupiter Moon was made in Birmingham, and is therefore the most technically advanced thing to come out of the West Midlands in the last 200 years.

Of course top of the tree is Blakes 7. While its often said to be low budget the reality was it had the same budget as any other BBC drama series of the time. The Beeb didn't feel it would be justified giving Who or B7 any more money than a standard show would have. Sci-Fi is expensive. If you are doing a historical drama you can just go and pull the costimes and scenery out of stock. With sci-fi everything needs to be built hence the budget gets stretched.

So chalk one up for us, I guess!

Blimey Peter, well I never! I stand corrected on that score. :)

Personally, I love hot and spicy food, which means Mexican cuisine is high on my list, all washed down with a bottle or three of Mexican beer on a summer's afternoon in the garden. :)

Since moving house in December, I'm finding I'm spending more time on my PC now that I've got a comfier setup. This means my console gaming is lagging behind. That nice MrC chap has kindly beaten my Wolverine and Blade scores on Pinball FX 2 and I've not even been back to try and catch up again. Instead, I've actually been playing the Steam games I've been accumulating - Ghost Recon, Mount & Blade:Warband, Trackmania Forever and yesterday I ordered a wireless receiver for my Xbox controller so that I can give Outrun C2C a proper go.

That said, Test Drive Unlimited 2 is out shortly so I'll want to give that a go. Mind you, Just Cause 2 is still unopened after picking it up cheaply from Play.

I'm like that at the moment, but when I turn the XBox on, I can't help but feel I should be doing something a bit more productive.

To be fair to you, and I could be wrong here anyway: a lot of their national cuisine does look to be a lot healthier, more balanced and certainly more interesting than ours, but the worst part of American culture and businesses have spread there which can't be a particularly good thing for their health.

Has anyone come across any such thing as a little DAB radio for the bathroom that's not horribly expensive (£40 is about as much as I'd want to pay but less would be better)?

Aldi had some for £35. Not sure if they're any good though.

I was horribly disappointed with DAB. The reception was awful and the sound quality was like a 48k mp3. Things may have improved since the DSO, but I doubt it.

Long live FM

Unfortunately though the only station I want to hear is 6 Music (and Radio 4 at times but it's not good as background).

I remember a time that every night I was keen to get on the xbox. because I knew every night something fun was likely to be happening on live. At the moment, it's quite unlikely generally for anything to be happening aside from CoD, and that's been the case for over a year. So I rarely bother unless someone sends me a message. (Google talk is now rather good for this - my phone tells me a game is wanted)

I just put my phone on speaker and use TuneIn Radio.

I don't like DAB, even if it worked.

Yeah Dave, a big part of the reason I enjoyed the 360 for the last couple of years was the Bezzieness of it all. It's been very sporadic lately, and I failed to keep up with buying the latest games too.

I've actually considered flogging the 360 today... but I think that's a step too far as it's a great media player and I'm sure there will be something along game wise that will excite me again.

Argos do a nice little sony DAB - I have it in my kitchen and it does the job. Make sure you use the mains power supply with DAB radios though as they just om nom nom batteries.

Annoyingly, I missed a phone call at lunch time from the recruitment consultant that got me the telephone interview last Friday. Interestingly, all he'd say was that he'd had feedback from the company and that they'd like to progress further with the application. Sounds promising, eh?

Just as well really. I took Wedneday, Thursday and Friday off work last week because I was having a hard time of it being here with everything else going on. Annoyingly I'd started to feel a lot better about things over the weekend, but back here at my desk and I feel dizzy, sick and I just don't want to be here. It's obviously not just being at work per se that's causing this malaise, but the lack of anything taxing to do with my time here is really not helping. I could well do without having time to think right now.

Fair play to my employer -- who I've certainly grumbled about more than once in the past. Not only have they been fantastic about my sick time (I spoke to my boss last week who told me in no uncertain terms that I am not to rush back to work too soon, I am to wait until I am ready), but I just had a knock at the door and an enormous Marks & Spencer fruit basket delivered with a get well soon card from the directors. Fair play indeed.

Yeah, after 27 years here (4 missing due to university in Manchester and America), I'm fairly keen on escaping myself *casts an evil glare at the American visa agency…*.

I've booked a hotel in London for Friday and Saturday night, gonna bring my new gal to the Big City to see the sights and smell the odour of a train full of BO-ridden southerners ;)

Shame Valentine's Day doesn't fall on one of the days we'll be in London, of course, but what the hell.
