We'd like to put a picket fence around that little bit of garden (there are some beautiful rose bushes just behind where I was stood taking the photo) and make it all pretty but that's slipped off the list a bit. We even thought we'd give it a number (48b) and a name (Mini Vale View, because the house is called 'Vale View').

The kids, however, decided to call it 'the wolf den'.

All that love put into it, and they choose the fucking 'wolf den' >:(

They also wrote some charming messages on the floor before I put the carpet tiles down

And some less charming ones

Have they written The Wolf Den in red, then crossed it out because the black was better?

I would love it if they'd just abandoned writing all of the rest in favour of multiple poo, poo, poos.

Much agreement on the ‘looks amazing’ front, Z. It looks huge in there. You should start hosting weddings.

I’m painting the hallway at the moment (though big love to Russell for painting the bits that Mimi’s, despite their Amazonian-like stature, cannot reach), and I tackled the staircase today. I’ve just put down my brush, but I’m happy with it.

It has been painted numerous times with paints that clearly hadn’t played well together and we’re all peeling and bubbling off, so I stripped it back with a heat gun, sanded it, and then painted it today. I’m looking forwards to finally getting our photos hung up.

And I have to go shopping for a new door handle for the under stairs cupboard. But anyway, it looks better than it did (not that I thought to take a ‘before’ photo

That handle definitely dates the house. My nan’s home in Dudley had very similar ones. Easy job to bring it up to date.

Yeah, the house was built in the early 50s, and most of the fittings are from then or the early 70s, as we are the third owners and the two that went before seemed to decorate when they moved in and then leave it as is.

The door handles is tiny. Like, Beadle-hand sized.

There was also a handle on the kitchen door that was like a razor, and kept ripping all my clothes.
