Craster, can you make 'choo choo' noises?

Do you like hot confined spaces?

Is there an app I can download from the app store, so I can see the temperature of your smoker whenever I like. You can put the choo-choo noise in that and we can just play it and imagine.

Some thermometers connect to a cloud service so you can get the temperatures remotely, yes. The one I have is only bluetooth, but feel free to buy me a fancier one: https://www.bbqland.co.uk/bbq-accessori ... aptor.html

Not much of a project, you should easily be able to squeeze that chest of drawers thing in that door? ;)

We're getting a new kitchen starting 20th August, also removing the dining room wall.

One of the many choices we need to make is underfloor heating, the current proposal is electric.

However, been told by a few people that this is expensive to run and that we should use a hot water one.

Any feedback on whats best and pros and cons? Thanks!

My understanding of it is that if you're retrofitting underfloor heating into an existing system, going electric is better as it's less "destructive" and is cheaper - and it doesn't really matter too much if it's more costly to run as long term it's leagues ahead of a traditional central heating system in terms of efficiency, so you can run it on a lower setting and still get the same impact on the room.

BUT, if you're replacing the whole system, and don't mind having everything ripped up, having one that hooks into the main system is better.

Hot water is cheaper to run, electric is cheaper to fit. Unless your kitchen is the size of Belgium, however, the expense of running electric is negligible

Finally got round to sticking mastic tape over the slices in the pond liner I made a month ago when I was hacking an enormous iris and lily root mass with an axe.

We currently have a water feature as rescued water drains back out of a water butt via a hose.

*sighs*

So, last week was our first trip to the new rental property, and upon doing some reconnaissance on the bath, there appeared to be a leak, but I couldn't tell where it was coming from and it looked like it might be slightly below the floorboards.

Anyway, fast forward to today, and, having removed the bath, and pondering over how to remove the floorboard, I noticed that the leak might be coming from the isolator.

Being "sensible", I thought it best to turn off the water, but having located the stop cock, I was a little confused as to why there were two taps, one immediately after the other on the pipe, and they'd both been painted over, so I nipped back to the bathroom to grab the wrench to give me some leverage on the tap.

For whatever reason, I couldn't resist one more look at the pipe, and, at the slightest touch, the isolator popped off and water started gushing everywhere. I haplessly tried to jam the isolator back on to the pipe (compression fit that obviously hadn't been done right, I think every joint has been filled with various kinds of plumbers putty/sealant), before charging back downstairs, wrench in hand, to turn the water off.

The reason for the two taps then became clear, as after trying to turn the first, the whole tap just dropped off. I had a another few moments of indecision as I was worried that the second tap might also break and then I wasn't sure what I'd do, but fortunately tap two remained intact and I was greeted with the sound of the water coming to a sudden stop. :metul:

Unfortunately, it seems a fair amount had already come out. :insincere:

I should also point out that most of those buckets are apparently for dramatic effect, as I'm pretty sure only the washing up bowl and one of the buckets had any water in.

I like the idea that you own buckets for the purpose of dramatic effect.

Essential daily carry in the back of the car, just in case.
Along with an anvil, police tape, a large pineapple, and fake blood.

Not our house, we were just lucky that a dramatic number of buckets had been left by the previous owner.

Possibly left over from when they plumbed in the bath!

Work on our new Kitchen starts 20th August. Wife and kids leave for Dublin on 18th for the best part of 3 weeks.

For weeks my builders have been gently mocking my request to have them send some people in on the afternoon of the 18th, to kill water and gas (electric is sorted already) so that I can rip out the kitchen ready for the Monday.

They agreed but kept saying "we have loads of time" and "no need for you to do that"

Now the penny has finally dropped as to how much work needs doing before they can fit a kitchen I have double the people I asked for all over next weekend :)

I’ve also done roofing fairly recently, well, replaced about 30 or so tiles. I also have no pictures.

As the last owners had put the bath in backwards, I've spent most of this morning getting the grout and sealant off the side of the bath.

If you could tidy up that brickwork I think one wall being au natural would look awesome in a bathroom.

There’s probably practical reasons why that wouldn’t work in a bathroom though.

I spent 30 minutes making the giraffe's neck as straight as possible and on admiring my work I realised it had to be 11cm up the wall to make the height measurements work. Undeterred I will write "+11cm" on the top so we all know.

Stupid thing
