I don't think that string will work for light bulbs unless you wet it first.

In fairness, it was only the tap that leaked. Now the sink leaks.

Those (older) sinks are a pain to keep clean, that new shiny one looks muck nicer, and I love a good rinsing sink! I don’t actually know how you wash up properly without one.

The big grill is rubbish for smoking on, because it has more air gaps than a slatted fence.

So I made a smoker. It's pretty big.

It has a PID controller (which basically turns a fan on when it gets too cold) and, after some fucking around, is remarkably stable.

Top work!

My DIY this week involved applying for an inert waste permit and 6 car loads of assorted crap to the tip.

Still a dead palm tree and another section of rotten decking to rip up.

Unsurprisingly, this has been considered. To do that (without faking it completely) you'll need a boiler of some kind, which isn't the end of the world as you already have a heat source. Then you could add something like a steam-powered Archimedes screw to feed fuel (as you need mechanical drive of some kind anyway to work the water pump) but you'd have to have safety valves and water injectors and if you fuck up your garden explodes.

So, in the end, no ;)

Craster, can you make 'choo choo' noises?

Do you like hot confined spaces?

Is there an app I can download from the app store, so I can see the temperature of your smoker whenever I like. You can put the choo-choo noise in that and we can just play it and imagine.

Some thermometers connect to a cloud service so you can get the temperatures remotely, yes. The one I have is only bluetooth, but feel free to buy me a fancier one: https://www.bbqland.co.uk/bbq-accessori ... aptor.html
