Raw was pretty entertaining this week. Punk was on form with the mic, and there was a couple of really good matches.

We also finally found the limits of Antonio Cesaro's ability to make anybody look awesome - The Great Khan't-Bend-His-Knees was predictably a bridge too far.

That being said, the finish of that match was fantastic. Cesaro's impression of M. Bison's special move from Street Fighter II was a proper "SHIT! DID YOU SEE THAT???" moment.

Oh, Raw. Why must your good bits be so fucking good?

Cesaro is awesome, and a VERY rare example of them letting a heel consistently win cleanly. Which is a nice change.

I don't like Cesaros finisher though. Why can't he use the Ricola Bomb? Or the Alpamare Waterslide?

I don't know, they let Shamus win cleanly all the time.

I mean, the bullying racist guy who beat a dude who was begging for mercy unconscious with a chair is a heel, right?

Eh? What's that? You mean...? Oh.

His uppercuts though. The one he did the other week to someone diving off the top rope; I nearly had a fit!

Yeah, Cesaro is absolutely the best thing in the WWE at the moment, with all due respect to any time Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes are handed a microphone and the awesomely unexpected teasing of a Del Rio face turn over the last few weeks.

Actually, on reflection there's an awful lot I like on Raw at the moment (grumpy Big Show, Bryan/Kane, Ziggler, The 3MB (BABY), Wade Barrett having his name written on his arse like he's wrestling on World Of Sport, Shamus wrestling), it's just the things that I don't like (John Cena talking, the whole horrible depressing AJ fiasco, whatever we're calling Wade Barrett's finisher this week, Shamus doing anything else) are so heinously awful that they're hard to wade through to get to the good stuff.

It's not a show I'd watch without being able to skip bits, but there's a lot of good there. I adore Punk, and even Cena's matches are good at the moment (his storyline is fucking awful though).

Plus Skip Sheffied ... Goldberg ... Ryback is fun, and The Nexus ... The Corre ... The Shield is a good way of getting some new guys good exposure. Dean Ambrose is awesome.

Yeah, I actually started my list of things I hate with "John Cena talking, John Cena wrestling" then realised that he's been pretty OK in the ring a lot of the time. I like The Shield and they had an awesome match at TLC but it feels like we're seeing the same stuff to rapidly diminishing returns with them.

Punk was amazing this week, no question. I'm totally sick of the coward-heel version of him we've had to put up with for the last far-too-long. He does bastard-heel so much better. Punk sat on top of the ladder holding his belt grinning like a maniac while he smeared his own blood on his face like warpaint was the fucking bomb.

Also: Paul Heyman is brilliant. If I became a billionaire I'd pay that guy to just follow me around and react to stuff.

Post subject:  Re: Rasslin'

Heyman's face when Punk went through the table on the outside was worth the price of my Sky subscription!

And yeah, The Shield needs to do something more. I'm hoping it all ties together cleverly at the Rumble... but I'm not holding my breath.

Believe it or not, Liger wrestled in Britain for a while early on in his career, as "Flying" Fuji Yamada. Had a rivalry with (Black Tiger in Japan) 'Rollerball' Rocco.

Near as dammit. :D

Also: I don't usually watch Smackdown, but so glad I caught it this week. After the WWE has basically spent the last 6+ months turning Alberto Del Rio into a glorified jobber it made me way more excited than it really should to see the guy win a great match. Also: happy Ricardo Rodriguez is just the best. I love that dude.

Really surprising angle at the moment between Del Rio and Swagger.

They're running an anti-immigration angle, with the immigrant as the good guy and the Tea Party fella as the bad guy. Which is surprising, to say the least.

It was rubbish. It didn't help that everyone knew the Undertaker, Triple H, Fandango and John Cena would win their respective matches.

Also, there just didn't seem to be a "big time" feel to the event. P Diddy sung something for no reason and there were no fireworks to open the show.

Same as all the titles. Once you've got an untouchable Cena without a belt headlining every show the straps are just meaningless.

Me and my friends were talking about it last night. Where can they go? The 'big' matches last night were all matches that we'd seen before with the same people. There hasn't been many stars made recently but I don't know what they can do to make them.

Post subject:  Re: Rasslin'

Lack of competition, innit. There's no-one they could just bring in to make things pop again, apart from John Morrison maybe. TNA's just midcard rejects from Wee Wee so there's nothing to be raided there. Regal's doing a good job with NXT, but there's nobody ready to move up yet. Everyone they did have that could've moved up to the next big thing were mercilessly crushed by Traitch's ego, so they've fucked themselves into a corner really.
