Yeah I read that back when he wrote it, innit.

Few films capture boyhood so well. It instantly takes me back to bike rides in the countryside, building dens in bushes and setting fire to things and stuff... And credit to Wil Wheaton for being in it.

Cock. Sorry mate. I will at lunchtime.

It doesn't have tunnels, however, there does exist the wildcard that is only for use on routes of 4 saces or more. It also has 'Passengers', of which one gets 4, and there are points to make them go around the track. Which is ok,but inflates the points.

THANKS. Now I understand all those comparion chart things. I couldn't previously understand if a later version had all the features of the earlier one. I quite like the tunnels, it stops things being too deterministic.

For ages I had the IRC logs from when I was 14. I was hugely annoying.

RE: TABLETOP. I thought "why would anyone watch this? Why?! Why would you want to watch someone play a boardgame?! This is worse than a 58-part Let's Play. But for some reason I sat through that TTR one, probably because the comic girl was pretty cute and his wife is a MILF. Anyway, the entire video was instantly not-a-waste-of-time after I watched this bit. Watch for the minute or so it takes to get to THE EVENT. Hilarious.

Quiz question: Was that staged, or a natural event?

All the feedback I've seen says natural - the 'every person facepalms at the same time' also tends to suggest (at least to me) that its real

Is TTR playable with two people? Like, to a decent standard? I've had it in my Amazon basket for YEARS but am reluctant to buy it if I can't play it with the Mrs. It's not often you can get a group of people together for a board game, I find. Not when you're properly cool and maintaining that image.

TTR original and Europe are a bit lame with 2 players. You could try the other versions that are 2-3 players. THIS IS DISCUSSED ABOVE, in fact.

Dave Gorman described Carcassone as "the gateway drug to European board games"

I've played Carcassone on me iPhone, and it was ok.

What's the best option out of that list, or a list like that, for 2 people board games?

For only 2 players, I'd get the Scandanavian version of ticket to ride. Zombies works with 2, but it isn't as fun. Carcassone is quite good with 2 players, but 3 seems optimum for many games.

Carcassone: Hunters and Gatherers is designed with fewer players in mind, I believe. I've played it a few times but can't remember what's so different about it that would help with 2 players. Still: It worked fine with 2 people, as that's what I usually played it as.

Memoir 44 is great and is a 2 player game. You can probably play it as a gateway game, maybe. Dominion also works very well as a two player game, and is one of my favourite games SO BUY THAT.

If you have an Iphone (or any IOS device) grab the game on there for free and give it a try - the tutorial starts with 2 players and takes you through a basic game (although it will allow you to add on other AI controlled players)

I'll definitely bring the following:

Ticket to Ride US
Settlers of Catan ('Have wood, want sheep' never ceases to be hilariously funny)
Kill Doctor Lucky (the object of the game is a little opaque to new players)
Chrononauts (time-travelling Hitler-killing japery)

Can't wait.

We played the Swiss* map on Ticket to Ride last night. It was good. I prefer it to teh Nordic one right now. We might try the Indian map tonight.

*NOTE: You'll need the train cards and trains to play this. Take them from another set.
