I went to see the 2003 director's cut at the ODEON in Birmingham (closest cinema that was showing it) The walls in the auditorium were painted white. Every little flash of light on the screen lit up the whole room like a nuclear explosion and it really destroyed the claustrophobic feel of the film, completely ruined it for me. |

I'm going tomorrow night! Lots of cinemas are doing it. I'm psyched because this is the only Aliens-related movie I've not seen at the cinema (if we don't count Predator 1 & 2). |

There has been next to no promotion for this as far as I can tell. The screening I’m going to was pretty empty when I booked the seats the other evening. I’ve not seen this one at the cinema. I actually saw Aliens twice on it’s release. It’s difficult to capture how damned exciting that film was when I first saw it. |

Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow. Tonight I watched “Life” on Netflix, which was largely reviewed as an homage to Alien. It was rubbish on so many levels. |

The sound system at the cinema last night must be so much better than the one in use every other time I've seen Alien, either at home or in the cinema. There were all sorts of background noises that I've never really picked up on before - most noticeably in the shuttle at the end, after the Alien reveals its presence and Ripley dashes into the cupboard, you can hear all sorts of gurgles and breaths from the Alien that I'd just never noticed before. |
