Yeah, I just watched the first one now, some boo in there. I'd assumed it was just the original YouTube video.

Gnnghhhh.

Help request, please.

I'm trying to find the customer service address for Duracell batteries. All I can find on their UK contact page is an email form and phone number. the only other page I can find it Duracell Direct, which seems to only be their online store.

Why, in this day and age, is it so difficult to find a blinkin' postal address? Can anybody help. It is not for lack of trying, I promise, but I am just getting frustrated now.

Oh no, battery troubles?

All I can find is this, which does have a phone number. Otherwise it's faceless bureaucracy time.

http://www.duracell.co.uk/en-GB/contact.jspx

edit: oh, yeah, same thing you found.

Their UK office?
Duracell UK
Gillette Group
Great West Road
Isleworth
Middx

Cheers, Kalmar!

I may bug them on Twitter, but I specifically wanted an address to send their rubbish batteries back to them.

I had bought four AAA rechargeables, but only two will recharge - the others bring up a fault warning. It's definitely the batteries, rather than the charger, as each individual port on the charger has it's own light to indicate when a battery is charging, charged or faulty. Whatever two ports the duds are placed in, it brings up the fault, whereas the two working batteries places in the same parts show no problem at all.

Did you buy them direct from duracell? If not, shouldn't you be taking it up with the shop?

Just a thought meems, it may be that the cells have fallen to too low a voltage (while in storage) for the charger to start.
It may be worth leaving them in the charger for a few hours in case it springs into life. Or - "jump start" it from a charged battery using a couple of paper clips - + to +.

This is one area where the more "dumb" charger can have an edge, unfortunately.

Maybe, but shop says they are 'used' and that I should contact Duracell. I am writing to both shop head office and Duracell.

I'm only annoyed because now my little scales do not work.

I have a 'dumb' charger, too. I will try that, K.

They never worked from the time I bought them, mind, so they must have run down whilst still packaged if that's the case.

Yes, standard NiMH are not guaranteed to have any charge in them by the time they reach you.
It's a bit poor that the charger won't start in that condition though, if that is indeed the case.

So yeah, try them for a while in your dumb charger and then see if the smart one is happier.

Use the 28 inches offered by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich to look at the moon for only £6 this weekend?

The shop sold you the faulty goods, so it's up to them to replace them. Sale of goods act and all that.
It's nothing to do with Duracell, although they might still help you out.

Unless batteries count as perishable goods, which can change things somewhat. Anyone know if they do?

They're rechargeable batteries, so maybe only disposable ones would count as perishable?

As I said, I'm writing to the store head office as well as Duracell. I mentioned in the letter to Duracell that I tried to return them tot he store but was refused, and named the store in question - they can sort it out between themselves. :p

Just played football. I'm unfit and slow - six months of doing nothing will do that - and my ankle hurts a bit and is probably going to swell up, and I wasn't exactly confident on the ankle in question, but I put in a decent show and it can only get better. Huzzah!

It has just occurred to me that a small child probably found my DS cart of Animal Crossing in the flat we'd rented in Kinsale, where I lost it. They plugged it into the DS and their parents were happy as it's a pretty good find.

Until the first creature greets them with a cheery "Hello, Cuntyflaps!".

Now, I can't stop giggling.

So, a couple of days ago I won an auction on ebay - got quite a bargain, 100 quid under my maximum, and less than half what it would have sold for new (and it's an unused, boxed item).

Had to wait a couple of days for the guy to respond about shipping, and then I get a couple of lines of sob story about how criminals have broken into his garage since the end of the auction and stolen the item! Fortunately, paypal refunded so it could've been worse.

But, should I reply with:
a) a genuine statement of understanding and commiseration (with the hope of sparking some guilt)?
b) a highly sarcastic one pretending to bemoan the DISHONESTY of BARE FACED CROOKS?
or c) a raised eyebrow 'whatever, dick'.

Not sure if I can leave feedback or not so this is purely for entertainment and mild revenge.

Semi-concealed sarcasm in the form of an over the top post of commiseration for such a terrible series of events.

d) Polite request for confirmation from the police that this is actually true. If it is, I can't imagine why he would object - it's business, not a personal matter, so if he takes it personally, he shouldn't be selling things of that kind of value.

Aye, couldn't really get that far away from the light pollution* so it was very faint. According to the Aurora alert it's coming back with a vengeance** shortly, so I'm going back up for a wee swatch & to see if I can get a photo this time :)

*No car today, so I'm on my bike.

Does anyone know if there's some kind of free advice line or some thing like that for chaps with debt issues? My mission this year is to try and sort out my debt problems, but plan A of getting a relatively low-interest, long-term loan to pay everything off has somewhat backfired in that I've been offered the amount I wanted, but at a fair bit higher interest rate than I was hoping (14.2% instead of the advertised 8.9%). I only have a few days to decide whether I want it or not too.

This leaves Plan B of trying to transfer as much of the credit card part of my debt to 0% deals as I can, whilst simultaneously cutting out every unnecessary expenditure from my life that I can and selling my beloved car (I don't think I can honestly go car free due to needing to ferry around my daughter, so I may just have to buy a cheap-as-chips shit tip and drive that for a few years).

Anyway, I really feel like I could do with the advice of someone who knows what they're talking about, but paying for that advice would be somewhat counter-productive.

Faded out for me now, should have taken a picture while I had the chance :)

edit: meh, very disappoint. It's a completely different colour to the eye, this just looks like street lights but there is normally a completely black horizon in that direction.

Citizenses Advice Bureau should be able to point you in the right direction.

If you can get through.

Also worth a shot are Consumer Credit Services which are a charitable debt advice service. I think you might be able to find their number on one of your credit card statements.

Looked up at the TV while eating my yoghurt this morning, only to see my sisters father-in-law on the BBC news! (Does that make him my father in law too? No idea how these things work.)

Things I knew about Paul, he is working on a wound treatment patch that has taken it's inspiration from honey.
Things I didn't know, he was part of the team that invented the pregnancy test! Which is pretty cool.

Some gentle ribbing over his new found fame next time we have dinner I think :D
