Thanks guys, I'll pass on the praise, he's been street running for about 2-3 months (he used to play football, and currently still plays 5-aside, so he did have some fitness before that), and he's done it all of his own back, which is doubly impressive imo. He's keen to do more 10ks and half marathons and eventually step up to the full one (he'll have to wait until he's 18 for that any way I think)

I think he really impressed himself, because initially he was going for 2:30:00 (on their last training run it took them that long to run 12 miles), but in the end, he'd have liked a sub 2 hour, which I am sure he can get in the future.

Tax refund! Knew I was owed one - I adjusted my pension contributions a bit last year to make sure I earned enough taxable pay to pay some income tax before I left work - but still, finally got round to asking for it, and it is on its way.

Can't wait for mine. I've (probably incorrectly) calculated I'm owed between £2.5k-£3k.

Just over £1k for me, which is about what I thought. Applied online, they sent a letter back. Then I just went back online and asked for it to be paid direct, rather than wait for the cheque (which takes a couple more months). Pretty good, though the first step did pretty much use the 15 days they said it would.

I signed up for something the other day completely by accident as it was via an Instagram advert. It was asking for Xbox experts who would like to answer technical questions that come through the official Microsoft support channels so I signed up, answered a few questions, did some reading and was directed to a site where I filled in my profile.

When you sign in, the questions come through in real time and they're really basic stuff which is normally answered with 'turning the console off and on again'. The hard questions or the ones that you need access to peoples accounts go through to the proper Xbox team but nevertheless, it's good to help people out. There's some proper random questions too but that's another story.

Anyway, the yay comes from the fact that I'm getting paid for this! I spent about 90 minutes on it in the first week just to test it out. Answered about 30 questions and got paid $65. The second week I answered about 100 questions and got paid $235. It really does seem like it's too good to be true so I'm going to keep on going to make the most out of it!

So next time you have a technical question about your Xbox, you never know. It could be me that answers... and tells you to turn it off and on again.

As long as they give me a positive rating, and the other experts agree with me.. then yes!

I've just had someone ask a questions about what he can do to beat people that play games with a keyboard and mouse.

So, I've tentatively started drinking again to see if I can do it in moderation.

Had a pint two weeks ago which was the first in over seven months - took me an hour to drink! Then last weekend had 1½ on Friday out with dinner. Went to Arnold Carnival on Sat with a friend and had 3 pints. Then went out on Sunday for lunch and had 2. Haven't had anything since and I won't have anything in the house.

Going well so far!

The first one not so much. The rest yeah.

I felt a bit lightheaded after 3 on the Sat so sensibly decided to stop there.

I've found there are tasty alcohol free beers available now, though I have an idea you're an ale guy, if this was a topic of interest.

Warsteiner do a good pilsner.
Free Damn is a nice enough Spanish lager.
St Peters Gold Without is a bit socky but nice enough golden ale.
Erdinger alkoholfrei is lush wheat beer.
Pistonhead Flat Tyre alcohol free is a good over-hopped lager.
Guinness Open Gate Ultra Low Alcohol Lager is ace best.

I keep stock of all but the St Peters and go for the Open Gate in preference to actual beer quite often. The latter 3 however are "not alcohol free for the purposes of UK food law" because they're 0.5% abv.

All the others I've tried are undrinkable shit.

Oh, and for a 'mildly alcoholic' drink free damm mixes well with the bieres des flandres that Morrison's knock out for 2.70 per 10 stubbies, 2.8%. Four pints total 3 units.

Flat Tire is a staple of mine along with Brewdog's Nanny State. The Erdinger is ok but the best NA wheat beer is Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Alkoholfrei, IMO.
