I signed up for something the other day completely by accident as it was via an Instagram advert. It was asking for Xbox experts who would like to answer technical questions that come through the official Microsoft support channels so I signed up, answered a few questions, did some reading and was directed to a site where I filled in my profile.

When you sign in, the questions come through in real time and they're really basic stuff which is normally answered with 'turning the console off and on again'. The hard questions or the ones that you need access to peoples accounts go through to the proper Xbox team but nevertheless, it's good to help people out. There's some proper random questions too but that's another story.

Anyway, the yay comes from the fact that I'm getting paid for this! I spent about 90 minutes on it in the first week just to test it out. Answered about 30 questions and got paid $65. The second week I answered about 100 questions and got paid $235. It really does seem like it's too good to be true so I'm going to keep on going to make the most out of it!

So next time you have a technical question about your Xbox, you never know. It could be me that answers... and tells you to turn it off and on again.

Would you still get paid if you just tell them all to put it in the microwave?

As long as they give me a positive rating, and the other experts agree with me.. then yes!

I've just had someone ask a questions about what he can do to beat people that play games with a keyboard and mouse.

So, I've tentatively started drinking again to see if I can do it in moderation.

Had a pint two weeks ago which was the first in over seven months - took me an hour to drink! Then last weekend had 1½ on Friday out with dinner. Went to Arnold Carnival on Sat with a friend and had 3 pints. Then went out on Sunday for lunch and had 2. Haven't had anything since and I won't have anything in the house.

Going well so far!

The first one not so much. The rest yeah.

I felt a bit lightheaded after 3 on the Sat so sensibly decided to stop there.

I've found there are tasty alcohol free beers available now, though I have an idea you're an ale guy, if this was a topic of interest.

Warsteiner do a good pilsner.
Free Damn is a nice enough Spanish lager.
St Peters Gold Without is a bit socky but nice enough golden ale.
Erdinger alkoholfrei is lush wheat beer.
Pistonhead Flat Tyre alcohol free is a good over-hopped lager.
Guinness Open Gate Ultra Low Alcohol Lager is ace best.

I keep stock of all but the St Peters and go for the Open Gate in preference to actual beer quite often. The latter 3 however are "not alcohol free for the purposes of UK food law" because they're 0.5% abv.

All the others I've tried are undrinkable shit.

Oh, and for a 'mildly alcoholic' drink free damm mixes well with the bieres des flandres that Morrison's knock out for 2.70 per 10 stubbies, 2.8%. Four pints total 3 units.

Flat Tire is a staple of mine along with Brewdog's Nanny State. The Erdinger is ok but the best NA wheat beer is Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Alkoholfrei, IMO.

weihenstephan (which I love the real one of), Heineken and nanny state are ones I don't like. Bavaria is borderline.

Good there's such variety now!

Can't say I like any of the n/a beers I've tried, I'd rather just have a lime and soda or ginger beer if I'm not having a drinky drink.

Crabbies? I like one to start but can't drink it all night.
Think I'm going off beers again, I go through phases of liking beer then go off it for months at a time and have vodka on ice instead. The healthy option.

It definitely helps with the process of quitting drinking, as while alcohol is physically addictive it's also psychologically addictive too.

Most alternatives in pubs are either Beck's Blue or Coca-Cola and they don't quite hit the spot.

I can still enjoy a drink on a night out but I'm finding it far less frequent. Partly it's just that I'm older but I think a lot of it is that I'm just so tired of seeing what that shitty fucking drug does to people, their health, their relationships, everything that it has put me off it to the point where if I never had another drink I don't think I would really even care. Because these aren't just people I read about or whatever, it feels like most people I know have at least one close relation who has had real problems related to alcohol. And in the community where I live it's an absolute fucking blight.

I have reluctantly developed a taste for lager shandy over my years as a responsible parent. It's cute when they start listing the fancy lagers they have and I stop them by saying "you're putting lemonade in it, Carling will be fine"

I like a shandy or a lager and lime with those little french stubby beers from Aldi etc.

Perfect amount so they don't go warm while you're pottering about in the garden.

Those stubbies are the perfect size to finish while you walk back to your seat, so then you turn around and go get another. Good way of keeping fit.

Unexpectedly got to go to the O2 yesterday and see The Muppets Live. Bohemian rhapsody actually made my day. :D My face hurt from laughing as we left. I then spent some of the evening having birthday drinks with the fire faerie! :luv:

Have both kids tonight as my wife is at the 02 watching Pearl Jam.

Never put the youngest to bed as we have split bedtimes (youngest is 14 months) taking a child each

Over 2 hours of him pissing around and going mental if I put him in his bed, at the same time my older boy is getting very extended TV time :)

@8.50 I had enough and just left him bouncing on his bed holding the rails and going nuts.

That lasted for 5 more minutes and he went to sleep! Eldest is asleep as well now

My wife will not be going out again on her own until 2020 :DD

Was an immense faff (because of fiddly and hot) but I finally managed to get my secondary audio system set up at mum's, so I don't have to suffer Beats Studio when I am here :D

Fitted the Soundblaster Tit HD last night (had to remove the GPU and hang it on hoses, not good) and wired the rest up this morning.

SB - home made valve pre (I call it the MK2) based on MF X10D, then to the Graham Slee Novo. Just sitting here listening to Lukas Graham, in wonder at the immense sound stage these Grados have. There really is nothing better for that IMO.

I hope that's good, Mal. Sorry not been keeping up (been sleeping a lot, good olde depression) but I hope you got it sorted man.

So yay, then. Well firstly I came home and my bucket was empty, dear liza or something. That means no water came through the ceiling in the 8 days I have been comatose at my mother's. Yay, I guess? it doesn't stink so much either, bonus.

What made me yay a lot though was this.

Image

It took some tracking down (due to it being released in 1992) but I found the CD on Amazon. Then like a belm I had it sent to my mum's, where I don't have a drive to rip it or a stereo to listen to it on. Bugger me, it's good though. Seems the guy behind Eon died a while back.. I heard one of the songs on the radio a couple of weeks back, then remembered I had pretty much the whole album on 12", until some cunt burgled my house and stole my records.

Ho hum, all's well that ends well I guess. Amazing album though.

YouTube is blocked at my company. However, I stumbled across an unblocked weird alt domain that some sites use for video embeds (http://www.youtube-nocookie.com) and I've setup a couple of silent pattern-matching redirects in Firefox, so now YT videos work (almost exactly) as normal. Not the most productive thing I've ever spent ten minutes on or the biggest yay in the world, but still.
