Congratulations! Were there tears? Did Grim... wear a nice hat? Who ended up fighting in the car park? (I bet it was Zardoz.) Did the best man tell the guests the one about that night in Amsterdam with the three hookers?

Yes, no (and his t-shirt had holes in it), no-one (I was surprised!), hellz no.

Wedding pics can be found here-> http://the-iwoods.com/ In an amusing (to me, anyway) twist, there are 38 [1] photos queued up but the site will be putting a new one live every four hours for the next however-many-days-that-takes. I'll put the whole lot up on the usual photo sharing sites when the tumblr has run dry.

[1] selected from just under 1,000 that I culled from people's cameras on the day.

For reference, the posing requirement for that pic was "Acknowledge that you are, like most male members of Beex, punching significantly above your weight"

Heh :)

It's the way she's looking at him and his genuinely joyous face, the whole picture just shouts 'love', it's brilliant.

Yeah I agree, its a brilliant picture. I love how wedding pictures come across. Normally posed photos are obviously posed with forced smiles but wedding pictures never seem to suffer from that because everyone is so happy they are beaming all day :)

So, cupcakes eh?

Life continues at a pace in the Trooper household. Today is day 1 of "Project Cupcake", Kate finished work on Friday, and starts everything in earnest today.
Current plan is to start from home and see what happens, give it 6 months or so, put an initial float of £500-£1000 into a bank account and if at the end of 6 months that is gone, with nothing coming in, then she will go get a proper job :D If it is running well from home we'll look at options for shops etc...

Current task list is hugely long, and involves fun tasks such as proper cleaning the flat from top to bottom, organising the kitchen, baking loads of cakes, perfecting icing techniques, setting up a websites, take loads of photos of cakes, setting up a business bank account, sorting out home insurance, buying ingredients, buying cake making "tools", getting vat registered, setting up a website, getting the word out on facebook and twitter etc...

Blimey! Shame I had to go into work and get out the way...

http://www.thecupcakehutch.co.uk Nothing there yet, but watch this space :D

I trust we can count on you all to pimp the website, facebook group, twitter account etc... in return for a few free samples? ;)

Do you need to register for VAT, as I would guess she's a fair way off hitting that at first I would guess? i'm a bit out of practice but i thought the sale threshold was about 70k?

Also with the business bank account, if she definetly has to go with one, make sure it's one with 12-18 months 'free' transactional' banking otherwise she'll get rinsed for paying in cash (which i assume most of the sales will be). If she can't find one with this free element, i'd really recommed just doing it through a seperate personal account whilst in the testing period.

Cool, thanks, didn't even think about that. :)

She doesn't need to register for VAT straight away, but if we want to get the VAT back on any purchases then it has to be done, so might as well do it sooner than later. It'll be sole trader to start with, but a limited company as soon as possible for liability reasons etc...

Decision made. We're going north. We'll give it twelve weeks, and if it looks like it is a pro move then we'll move proper. Thanks to people's help on Saturday, nice to have such good advice on hand. I'm shitting bricks, now.

Yes, MrsA has a job in Bingley. The next few weeks are going to be spent sorting things out, house hunting to rent in the area, hopefully for much cheapness, and sorting out admin stuff. It's going to be a huge change for me, so I'm hoping to get up there and sort some work out for me so I can hit the ground running. Then, if it is good, touch up MaliTowers and sell it ASAP.

Make sure you visit the Bradford museum of film and television. You can ask them to put on loads of old tv shows from their archive.

Pretty much. Also, I don't give a fuck if you move to Azerbaijan, you're still coming to the music quiz.

I was in Leeds at the weekend. Great night out, but it has changed a bit since I studied and worked there. Hummer limos cruise the city centre, offering to take the unwary to lap-dancing clubs and the like. Oh the hilarity as my friends insisted on telling them "he wants to go" whenever they stopped near us.

I love Leeds, mind.

Awesome!

I suggest you quote me as saying 'friendly locals, lively city centre, good beer, close to moors and gorgeous yorkshire stone' before 'something like 4 separate clubs touting for business', though.

4 is a bad number for the total of strip bars, as given the rotation, you'll miss some girls as they'll be off having their periods and they might be hot. 3 is a good number, but you'll hit the same wall every 3 months, so I figure 5 is optimum. If my maths is correct.

Will there be new and exciting opportunities for real life griefing oop north? I do hope so.

Good luck with the move and everything - taking a chance further afield was one of the best things I did, so I hope it works out for you.

This means MaliA will no longer be a music quiz fixture, and as such is a bad thing.
