Last day in current job*! When I get back from holiday I'll be in a different office, doing roughly the same thing.

But, ace holiday ahead, so yay!

After a few days of mind changing and discussion, Mrs T is pretty set on not moving to York and staying down here :D
She has also been given a lead on a job by a colleague of hers and told she should definitely apply, for a job in London, that literally pays twice what she earns at the moment. :D Hopes are high, chances are low, but you never know!

Wow, that'd be great news for you both, especially as you'd resigned yourself to long distance.

It certainly would :) Like I say, chances are low for this job, but no harm in applying, she fits all the requirements.

As an aside, I now read all your posts in a rhyming rhythm... :D

It's not a done deal yet, Kate is quitting her current job today I think, then is going to spend some concerted effort properly looking. The York job is still in the background, so if nothing turns up she'll most likely take that.

Probably best to check the nay thread for any updates, folks...

We've just booked a converted windmill in the south of France for a fortnight in August! Flying into Toulouse, visiting Roquefort, photographing the sign outside Condom...

This weekend I was in a workshop, in a muddy field, in front of the F1 and in my wife twice.
Much hurrah, basically!

I've been in the garden building a (very small) house, in a muddy field having a fucking superb time breaking bits of Grim...'s Tomcat (sorry about the winch and the rope Grim...!), in front of the TV watching the F1 and in front of my mate's TV finally watching Transformers 2, during which I fell asleep and had to have the friend wake me up so I could leave his abode and drive home.

No wimmins though. And I put my car advert on Pistonheads yesterday. So lots of awesome, tinged with slight sadness. I'm thinking my new car might be a crappy Suzuki 4x4 thing though!

BT have responded to my letter about the appalling customer service we suffered while waiting for them to install our broadband service by crediting us with the £99 installation fee.

The indications are that we will. My lad won't take them on unless he's checked them thoroughly and would inform the client right away if there was no hope.

Is it against SINISTER MEGACORPORATION A, or some poor bastard who drove around a corner at the wrong time and now won't be able to get insured again ever?

I haven't seen them, but they're more likely to be assaults by thugs, footpads or ne'er-do-wells.

yay for a lovely weekend!
first time husband and I had a weekend away without katie (she's 15 months old)
two lovely long undisturbed sleep nights in a nice hotel, two excellent dinners, 4 cinema films and glow-in-the-dark mini golf
my mum stayed with katie in our house and that all went great as well

[self indulgence]

I was the science advisor for a book that has been shortlisted on the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize 2011!

http://royalsociety.org/news/Royal-Society-Young-Peoples-Book-Prize-2011-shortlist-announced/

WOOOOOOOO!!! I'm ecstatically pleased with this after all my bitching about bad science - to have worked really bloody hard to push for proper science contents for kids whilst within the confines of the media and then to get it shortlisted by the Royal Society is a HUGE thing for me!

Cheers, it's here:

hXXp://www.SPamazon.co.uk/Story-Astrono ... =8-1-fkmr0

Bare in mind I didn't write it, or draw it, but I did work hard to edit and improve the science of it. Which makes a Prof of Space Science approving of it a big deal for me. It was a challenge to make it factual and
assessable.

(obscured the link a little for a reason I may go into in a thread later, basically trying to keep skeptobot (which will be coming back) from my current job...)

(Thanks for the kinds words everyone!)

Bit.ly is a much more user-friendly way of obscuring links ;)

Good job I didn't ignore that call from "Unknown" - I've been offered a cancellation at the gammy leg layzorzing shop, on Monday.

Excellent - a week of "working from home" because of needing to convalesce.

Edit: Hm, I'll need to cancel my regular Monday evening appointment at the gammy head shop, thinking about it. £43 better off to boot!
