YOU'RE NOT CORNISH.

You're as bad as those rich white kids who think they're black. You're the Kernow equivalent of a wigger.

Anyroadup, I once build a Wellington bomber in about two hours.

I was dizzy with the smell of the cement by the end and glued the pilot in upside down.

Aside from the natty head gear, the main difference between you and the displaced Palestinians is that they used to live in Palestine.

Maybe they'll let you in to their club if you bomb a holiday cottage. Or just glare at tourists in the local pub in Portscatho.

Don't go to the Roseland in the summer. They put the King harry ferry prices up, too.

Just humour him, it's the safest bet. Or he'll break out the pasties and the black and white flag and start singing "oh flower of Scotland" or whatever the Cornish anthem is.

Don't they sing songs about Bishop Trelawny? Something to do with them needlessly marching towards That London before quitting halfway and going home.

Avoid Airfix kits, as they're shit. Revell, Hasegawa, Academy and Italeri are much better. Tamiya is tops, but ridiculously expensive.

EDIT: I'm walking into town in a bit, applied for 10 jobs so far today so want the exercise.

The Revell 1:72 WW2 series are quite cheap (5 or 6 quid for a Spitfire or whatever), but brilliant quality. You'll spend much more on the paints.

I forgot about paints. If only there were a set of basic paints to pick up for cheaps.

Might get this and construct a small civilian airport on my desk.

Ha - I think that's identical to my radio controlled one, even down to the serial number.

I figured I'd only need white, red and black paints, then....

Plus various shades of silver and grey for the engine. And brown and green and whatnot for the cockpit.

The revell paints are only £1 a tin, so it's not that bad. Plus you get to use them again on the next model.

I presume the suggested paint codes are placed dorsally on the packaging of the model?

IIRC, Revell only stick the basic colours for the exterior on the packgeing. Hust open the thing up and get the instructions out.

Or try the Revell website.

Weekend just gone, I stripped a 1920s oak bedside cabinet back to bare wood and rewaxed it. It looks brilliant. I can't believe that Mrs K senior let Mrs K paint the bloody thing blue when she was a kid.

Also, got hold of my massive box of Lego from the folks' place. So. Much. Fun.

First Born asked me to build a racing truck that we had the instructinos for. I started it, and was about to build the cab and put the spoiler bit on the back, and he said "no daddy, it needs a box on the back for putting things in. I'll make it". So he duly builds a little block on the back, making a neat little panel van with no cab. Bed time rolls around, and First Born puts the truck (which he's spent all afternoon playing with) in the new castle and says "Daddy, you mustn't touch it. It's safe in the castle from you so leave it alone and don't make it into a racing truck. It's mine, not yours".

I may have been interfering with earlier projects a little, on reflection. :)

Indeed. However, I'm a little chagrined that he thought I'd sneakily change it to how I wanted it while he was in bed.

This morning when he came downstairs and found his truck he said "Daddy! You didn't change it! You're a good boy." :S

My father thinks an antique, Japanese laquerwork cabinet that belonged to a great aunt may well have been coated with white gloss and used as a cupboard in a shed of a cousin of his. I think he's still quietly fuming about that, 30 years later.

Hahahah, yeah. First Born's current favourite is "pardon you daddy".

The first album of theirs I bought, 'Twin Cinema, remains my favourite. For some reason, I was underwhelmed by this year's effort. It lacked the 'wow, this is fun' factor of previous discs and hasn't really hooked me in the way others have done.

The New Pornographers are bloody marvellous. 'Mass Romantic' remains both my favourite album and song by them though.

Avoid Airfix kits, as they're shit.

Managing to forget this, I bought an Airfix Hawker Typhoon 1b with paint, paintbrush and glue for £7. It's taken me an hour to build it and the pieces don't really fit together very well. Quite pleased though, first one in 20 years....

Sadly, unlike Nickachu, I am here with work. Have spent the day sat in a shed in a forest clearing 10 miles N of Umea. Fortunately, it was really sunny. Wednseday, rain is due, it will be miserable. No wonder everyone kills themselves over here.
