This works well if you know exactly how much you are going to spend on group items.

No, you get £X (where X is expected to easily cover the cost) from everyone who wants in, you spend what you think is necessary in the shop, and then either spend the rest on crisps and dips and wine, or give a refund.
Only trying to help here, but I have done these things before, and everyone says, "OOOh, I'm in" until you try and get some money out of them, then you end up out of pocket, with both you and the person who wouldn't pay upset by the experience.

I can see where you are coming from and I think that you are right. However... (and I'm only speaking for myself here) what I am picking up from Makro is really cheap, I was bringing it to share to be honest. I only put it on a list so that people didn't all end up bringing the same thing (like the cheese suggestion). If people want to bung a glass of wine my way then great, but I don't want want any monies for it, it's just my contribution because I can get it cheap.

I will of course be more than happy to make up for any monies left owing for Curio to cover the cottage and to Mogwai/Ange for chilli. :)

Re: sharing of stuff and paying for foods and all that.

I echo Bobby's sentiments that, for almost everything, just buy what you want and pay for it yourself. I would imagine that most people will bring something to eat in terms of snacks, should they want them. Sharing is fun!

:D

In terms of the meal on Friday; last time it cost about 2 or 3 quid a head. If you don't want to be included in the foodings, then that's absolutely fine. If you do and you eat it, we'll work out roughly how much it costs per head and divide by how many people wanted it. As I said, last time the cost was minimal and there were leftovers that people took home with them. But different people like different things, so if you want to just make your own thang, you can.

P.S. How many veggie types are coming now? Maria is more than happy to make a big pot of veggie chilli (since it's almost the same as making regular chilli). Was just wondering about numbers.

Righto. Here's the 'less fun' post re: finances.

At present we have (assuming kalmar's money will arrive soon):

Received:1985
Originally required: 2100
Shortfall: 115

However, there are two things to consider.

One is something I stupidly overlooked, which is that there's a £105 surcharge for the two places (as a total... one is 60 the other 45) for use of power/fuel/etc. Oops. My bad, etc.

The second is that we've got 165 quid from people who aren't coming (140 from Dimmers/Helen, and 25 from BikNorton), and we really should return as much of this as possible.

Which, if we return all of those monies, brings us to:

Received:1820
Required: 2205
Shortfall: 385 quid

We have 26 people coming.

385/26 = £14.80 per person.

I realise that this now ups the cost for couple by 30 quid, which is something I had hoped would not be necessary. I also realise that some people operate on different budgets to others, and that 30 quid can be very little to some but a hell of a lot to others. So, if this additional cost is a problem for anyone, let me know via PM and we'll try to sort something out.

Hopefully 85 quid for (up to) 3 nights in a nice place, our lovely company, and entertainment in the form of games, food, a multi-round Pub Quiz (complete with prizes) will reprsent value for money for most.

Sorry to be all serious for a bit there. Normal service will soon be resumed.

:DD

So do I. Danielle has just been back to the dentist for the third time in two weeks after a crown fell out. She's currently in a fair bit of pain and if it doesn't clear up it's possible we won't be able to make it (although after the latest visit today, she's been told there's no infection, so it probably won't come to that). Anyway, if that were to happen and we couldn't make it, there's no way I would expect or accept a refund from the group.

We are Not Speculating.

I should point out that if a decision is made to refund people, I'm not going to be an arse about it - my pennies will be in the pot.

Two relevant data points. First, I'm pretty sure we'll be OK to come. Second, I don't have Scott Pilgrim - the only bootlegs I can find are shitty cam rips.

Still, in good news:

*We can pick u the keys at 1pm

That is another option.

There's no pressing need to sort out everything before the weekend. We can sort things out there and see how much money I get by the end of it.

Surplus? We're looking at the biggest peacetime Beex meet budget deficit ever. It's going to take a whole mod term for us to get out of the black hole.

My bad. Ask if she'll take payment in kind. What have you got to offer, apart from Zardoz's £12?

I am down to be working until 5 on Friday. However, in my special diary of What Will Actually Be Happening, And You Can Fuck Off, I'm leaving at 3.

Is there a summary somewhere of how people are getting there, what to bring, etc?

I need to know what stuff to bring (principally sleeping stuff and that, but I can bring some 360 or DS stuff if that's what we're doing), and how to get there on scummy peon transport :(

Bed and bedding is provided, you might want to chuck a towel in your bag though. As for other stuff, Doc is bringing his 360, if you are using public transport I should just bring whatever clothes you want. We shall be arriving probably just after five then will happily give lifts to the Asda, so don't carry anything that you can afford to buy there.

I believe bedding is provided (Bobby/Curio please correct me if I'm wrong?!) but you'll need to bring a towel. We already have an xbox/Rock Band instruments.

The number 38 Arriva bus from Derby city centre takes you to Stenson Fields which is within about half a mile of the house. From there it should be walkable/someone may offer to pick you up (?). The postcode for the house is DE73 7FZ if you want to have a look at it on the map.

Hope that's of some help :)
