This too of course. On average I can just about get to Exeter and back on the train for £40.
My car is maybe £50.
Except that, more than once I've had someone else with me.

I did enjoy the experiment a few years ago where (and I might have some details wrong) a magazine managed to buy a car (think it was a Sierra), tax it, insure it, take 4 people to Glasgow from London and hand the car over to a scrapyard for less than it cost to take the train.
That's just WRONG.
