Open Office doesn't do DTP. Are any of the free DTP packages on Google (that I just know aren't going to be free) any good?

There are only two free open source DTP packages. But I've never used them so can't comment.

There's a free (older) version of Serif Pageplus. Used an old version of Pageplus donkeys ago and it did what I needed back then, although my needs were somewhat limited. It also occasionally threw up a dialogue box claiming that the spirit of Elvis had been detected, which was surprising

Serif nag you to death when you register their free stuff. You can pick up a repackaged version of PagePlus on those stuff-fer-a-tenner racks in shops like Smiths -- search WOS for more details, there's a thread on this over there. Also, Quark 5 got cover-mounted a few months ago (although there was probably a registration deadline that will have expired by now... worth a Google for info, though).
