Hi guys. I'm LewieP, I run the blog SavyGamer, and noticed some traffic coming from these forums, so thought I would pop along to say hello.

Hello!

Anyway, I thought you guys might want to know about this fantastic piece of software that just has been released -

ScummVM Wii - Wiimote Edition

SavyGamer wrote:
The ScummVM interpretor is a piece of software that allow you to play a bunch of classic Adventure games on a range of platforms. It has now been ported to the Wii, with Wiimote support, meaning you can use the Wiimote pointer to replace the functionality of the mouse.

You can download it here.

The Scumm engine was originally made for Lucasarts Maniac Mansion, but it was used for a whole host of fantastic games. My personal favourites are Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit the Road and Beneath a Steel Sky.

There is some fantastic homebrew coming out for the Wii, and it's only just getting started, I can't wait to see what's down the line.

I strongly suggest you head over to #extras" class="postlink">ScummVM.org and download the charming and hilarious Beneath a Steel Sky.

I needed an excuse to replay BASS, and this is as good as any.

Hi! Wow, welcome indeed sir, you've saved me a good £50 or so in the last 3 months alone, I'd say. Very welcome indeed!

Good day fine fellow! :hat:

I shall keep an eye on this wiibrew malarky. I'm slightly worried that I'll somehow break my console though, and then Mrs Squirt will beat me to death.

Glad to hear you like the blog CUS!

All you need is an SD card and a copy of Twighlight Princess on the Wii.

Follow the link in the OP to download the ScummVM Wii .dol file, and then head to wiibrew.org for instructions on how to load .dol files.

Edit: and if you guys have Digg account, I would love it if you would Digg the article, to get it out to people asap.

I basically made this guy what he is. That's how awesome I am.
Infact I convinced him to make the blog in the first place.

And it's a wonderful, wonderful blog. Far better than mine,

I've been meaning to invite you and Mr Grinch (and a couple others from the UK thread) over but we've been going through "difficult times" recently.

That and I was worried a bunch of the less mature PA'ers making it's way over here probably wouldn't be the best thing whilst we are finding are feet.

This is all 100% true.

Also true.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I would PM him and a few others but my PM box is perpetually full.

But watch it on my blog! Ben "Guardian" Goldacre at least at some point quite liked it. That makes me best for all way.

I'll PM Grinch asap but I'll wait a while for the others because we've been through a lot here recently. We are only about a month old. There was lots of internet drama and this place was created from those of us who walked out of World of Stuart.

World of Stuart was ruled with an iron fist by Stuart Campbell, and we are still working out how to live now that we are free from his control.

(This post is quite tempered by Stuart Ashen saying he's off - this has made me quite sad)

I actually inadvertently walked into the middle of the whole thing somehow, by posting a comment on Bruce Everiss's blog (having never even heard of worldofstuart before). I then got a fairly angry (albeit mostly polite and rational) email from Stuart, explaining his side of the story.

I don't know exactly how I feel about the whole thing.

8) I actually had no idea that had happened.

This was all before that.

It doesn't need dragging up again - I'll PM you.

One of the benefits of signing up to a new forum is a new PM box to abuse. :p

That reminds me of a dream I had earlier. I wish there was some foreign film where an insane and evil robot or talking computer happens to be called Thatcher. A bit like Skynet.

Thatcher's gone insane! Sir our (space) docks are being destroyed by Thatcher's minions before our very eyes! It rights itshelf.

If anyone runs out of space on this board, they only have to ask.
I think I've given you all plenty, though.

My late-90s style downloading emails to Outlook is similarly only limited by my hard disk space.

Here

I am relevant to the wider internet.

Bask in my reflected glory.

Seriously though, that's great. The more people that get to know about this, the better.

Oo. This sounds ace. How does it work exactly - in a similar fashion to a light-gun as you point at the screen I presume?

Possibly. Either way, it's worked out nicely. The dots thing is worthless, though.

I like the idea. I get fed up of work emails, as some have dots and others don't, and it should be uniform.
