Why can't electric cars recharge themselves? Surely it could generate more electricity than it uses, because using the electricity has to overcome the friction of the tyres on the road, but hooking up dynamos to the wheels wouldn't (it's just all spnning magnets, isn't it?)?

I know this isn't the case, but (a) why? and (b) IT SHOULD BE.
