There's a Nintendo Direct 3DS reveal today at 3pm but there's a Spanish site that sells games which may have stole their thunder.

http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/major ... n-xtralife

They've got Majora's Mask listed for a November release date. This has cheered me up loads. It's no secret that I loved Ocarina of Time on the 3DS so I'm really looking forward to this.

Also.. it means that my N64 copy of Majora's mask can stay sealed.

Tempted to buy one just so I can finish majora's mask as I never quite got round to it - I was pretty much in the last dungeon I believe.

You know, despite my love of Animal Crossing, I can't say that special edition set above is doing anything for me. Also you don't get a physical copy of the game which I wouldn't like.

I've decided I am going to treat myself to a larger 3DS in time for Animal Crossing, and in fact recently traded in my regular one as I literally never use it. So this would be a good time to inform the two lovely people in this thread who I recently traded friend code thingies with, that I shall be buzzing you with a new code when I get the new 3DS. So stand by!

Nintendo are doing a "buy 3 get 1 free" promotion from now until June.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... other-free

Eurogamer wrote:

UPDATE: Nintendo UK has told Eurogamer that to qualify for the promotion all you have to do is register the appropriate games by 30th June 2013. It doesn't matter when they were registered as long as it's before this date.

ORIGINAL STORY: If you register three of eight Nintendo 3DS games you'll get another free.

That's a new and decent-looking Nintendo promotion called So Many Games! that begins tomorrow, 23rd April 2013, and should help ease the strain on wallets for those enjoying the current boon in quality titles for the handheld.

The eight games included are:

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Nintendo 3DS version)
Luigi's Mansion 2
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Register any three with Club Nintendo by 30th June 2013 and you will get a free download code for any one of the remaining five titles. Alternatively, you can select one you've already registered for the promotion to gift to a friend.

The small print: the request of the download code must be completed by 31st July 2013. The code expires on 31st December 2013. There's more on the promotion's official website.

This is good news for me as I was planning on buying Donkey Kong and Fire Emblem anyway.. and it would be nice to get Animal Crossing for free.

As I'm getting Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing for the other half anyway, really I can sort of kinda at a stretch look at this as a bogof and justify getting Lego City to play though and sell and get the free game to keep. But undecided between Fire Emblem and Donkey Kong.

I would certainly buy a 3DS if the games weren't so expensive. I wonder if there is anyone in the same situation as i and if nintendo is aware of that untapped audience.

I just bought one simply because the number of games on and coming to the system looks like its enough to make it worthwhile for me I've already got a short list of stuff i'm interested in but if any other owners want to add other suggestions ?

Also Nintendo stuff typically holds its value which means although its expensive to buy you do get a chunk of that back when you sell (if you dont want to keep the games forever)

For giving that up I think they should have a big discount if you wanted to buy things via the e-shop but they are very much like Microsoft were and everything has its same full price point from what it was released

I bought a DS, got animal crossing, advance wars and that was it. Oh, and a game involving squares. it wasn't great, in my mind.

I never pay full price for the games. I just don't have the means to (long story short, even though i'm an engineer, i live in Portugal). Fortunately PC games devalue very fast and steam sales help. Nintendo games prices never ever go down. And altough i could pay 35£ for a game like Fire Emblem, it would be hard to pay that for an arcade-like game.

To my shame, I must admit I've never played any of the Advance Wars games, and really want to rectify that. I reckon a good place to start would be the Dual Strike one.

At this point I'm happy for anyone to talk about the Advance Wars games in general, and confirm how awesome they are.

They are amazing , the Dual Strike one is not quite as good as the first two for the GBA which i'm sure you can get on the same card (although its probably out of print) - i didnt really like the last one which totally did away with all the previous story and characters (Days of Ruin)

You know, I do have the original GBA game kicking around at the back of a cupboard somewhere, I just never got around to trying it for some daft reason. Still I don't think the GBA carts work on the 3DS? Oh well, my own lazy fault for not playing it at the time!

The Fire Emblem series comes recommended if you like Advance Wars. Fire Emblem basically is Advance Wars in the style of a JRPG, or a JRPG in the style of Advance Wars. If that kind of thing appeals to you somehow.

Yeah, I have my eye on that one and I know it's been getting amazing reviews.

There seem to be a lot of quality games out for the 3DS in the last couple of months - I also quite fancy that new Lego one.

Ooh, the XL is rather lovely and shiny, and I do feel the much larger screen sizes will bring a better experience all round.

Yep. If the screens were only marginally bigger it would be pointless, but to be fair they have sized them right up. Of course it could be argued they should have done this from the start, but that's another debate!

Lego City 3ds was fun while it lasted with a few interesting moments. But it wasn't as funny as the Wii U game and I didn't fancy exploring much because of the draw distance and limited controls.

Luigi's mansion is now on it's way, been wanting to play it for ages.

I think I've played and completed more games on the 3ds than the ds.

Also Mario 3dland was great. An actual fresh take on a Mario platformer!

Due to my double vision I've lost stereoscopic vision in real life, but after an article in kotaku of all places, I thought I would try a 3DS - and bloody hell it only works!

So, just cracked and bought a 3DS XL. Figured it combines finally replacing my DS and allows me to play the new fire emblem (along with Super Mario 3D Land and Monster Hunter).

Tempted by that 3 for 4 dealio too....

I'm fucking loving the 3DS. First Impressions:

PicrossE! My attempts to find a half decent iOS version came up naught. So it's bloody wonderful to get 150 Nintendo Quality Puzzles for £4. I shall be purchasing the sequel immediately afterwards. Then the gameboy picross. Heaven sent.

Monster Hunter I'm only 10 or so hours into a clearly very long game, but it seems really rather good indeed.

Very, very tempted by Fire Emblem, Luigi and Donkey Kong - so tempted by the 4 for 3 deal - but The Wedding (TM) is stealing all money.
And most importantly:

Graphixz and Whizz (nb. I don't have stereoscopic vision in real life) The screen resolution isn't great, but bloody hell I can see in 3D. Not for very long at once, but to get the sense of depth back is insane. It's like a super power. It also lead to me noticing stereoscopic vision in John Lewis of all places. I haven't quite worked out what that means.

Overall: If you have double vision then playing with a 3DS is an essential purchase. I can't believe I've only just realised this. I imagine the tech will die out after the 3DS, so I can imagine a rather depressing future of buying up aging 3DS consoles to keep getting this window back in depth.

From the bit I once played in a shop it felt, slow and tepid. But your recommendation is enough. It's on the list.

Pretty sure that was the case until the 3DS and Wii U version came out. Everyone I know that plays it is all over those version atm.

That was the impression I got as well. Interestingly, whilst the 3DS version doesn't have online multiplayer it is otherwise feature complete with the Wii U version to the extent that you can transfer your save between the two. Also the 3DS is currently the exclusive platform for MH4 and will have online.

The animation in the game is fantastic, with the creatures having no health bars and their status purely being determined from the changing of their gait, increased amount of slobbering and lolling tongues, attacks failing, stumbling, or body parts getting crushed, cut off or scrappy. Imagine the Sif fight from Dark Souls but constantly.

(On the negative side, there is a long, boring tutorial.)

Mario 3D land is the game so far thats really wowed me on the system but its almost an embarrassment of riches for the 3DS right now with more on the way

Luigi's Mansion
Monster Hunter
Castlevania
Fire Emblem
Donkey Kong Country returns
Animal Crossing
New Zelda LTTP

Competent games I've played so far :

Professor Layton and the Miracle mask - its just an updated Professor Layton but i've always enjoyed them
Street Fighter IV - a good implementation of the game but the controls are not quite up to a real joypad or joystick (still fun)
Mario Kart - its a good Mario Kart but does not stand out that much to me (although i've not put much time into it yet)
Tetris 3D - its a solid implementation of the game but nothing special (argos outlet shop on ebay are selling it for £7)

Steel Diver is the only thing that i've picked up that's felt slightly disappointing but i understood that its more like a tech demo for the system and it was only £5

NSMB2 is competent too, but unless you're well into the NSMB games, it's not essential. The Wii U one is way better.

Today the German versions of it and Monster Hunter arrived (from that cheap deal you posted for Amazon.DE) i've put them both in to make sure they come up in English but i've not played either yet.
