First of all, I'd like to say sorry for saying "u" up there, but I couldn't fit "you" in.

Right, now that's out of the way. It looks like I will be coming into a bit of money shortly, and I might be able to use some of it buy an Xbox 360 (I was going to before, but moving house and redecorating cost a lot more than I bargined for.

So, assuming I can find the funds, What should I be looking at. Where is the best place to get it from (in terms of packages and deals and so on) and what games should I be getting. What hardware should I be getting too.

If you could break it down assuming I have the following budgets, then I would be most greatful:

1) £250
2) £300
3) £400
4) £500

Thanks

Malc

Gamestation do them for £50 with four games. You want to get down there.

*edit* U've (sic) changed the thread title now. I'm sure we've had this discussion quite recently with someone else. Have you tried the search function?

My original post subject betrays your edit, sah. u lose again.

On a more relevant, but equally unhelpful note, I got mine from eBay and it's worked fine for the last two years... so... yeah. Look around.

I have got a wireless router in another room, my wii (the 360 will be next to it) already is wifi'd to that and I'd like the 360 to be the same. I don't know what games are multiplayer and how many the support (locally I mean) If there are lots of 3/4 player games then 3 or 4, if there are mostly only 2 player games, then just 2.

I'd just get the £199 Premium with GTA4 from Play:

http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/53 ... l?dpr=2524

and then just get games from here and there as you want them. Also don't forget to budget for your Live subscription and maybe a camera, if you want both of those things then this deal seems the best around:

well for cheapest you may want to try get hold of ashens I think for cheaper unofficial wireless solutions otherwise I think it will be 50 quid the cheapest you'll get one.

also a good beginners pack, forza 2,vivapinata and a wireless controller for £30

Entertainment pack

That premium with GTA seems to be the best offer at the moment aswell.

What markg and Runcle said.

Also, if you want to use wireless then you will need to buy one of the ridiculously expensive wireless adaptors (£40 the last I looked), or use ethernet (and maybe then use another wireless router to bridge.

What do you like games-wise? Quake 3 and Mario games is all I can remember.

Yes, I too remembered something, but I wasn't sure if it was on here, WoS or SWoB and couldn't find anything within the 5 minutes or so I spent looking.

I just want to be aware of how much all the hardware is going to cost and the live sub, and the best place to get such things from. Is it better to get an all in 1 bundle, or to mix and match as it were.

I will be getting GTA IV, I like games like that, I like driving games, I like puzzle games, I will probably have to get at least 1 football game for my eldest. I have a wide variety of tastes really, as long as it's fun. Multiplayer fun is a large bonus too. I don't think I will like FPS's on a console, coming from a PC background there, but I could be wrong.

I can't find it either, so I'll let you off - just this once, mind. ;)

Ridge Racer 6, Burnout Paradise, Forza 2, and you might want to try PGR 4, which includes Geometry Wars: Waves too. I've not tried either of those.

There are many puzzle games available on Live Arcade, so you're sorted there. A few FIFA and Pro Evo games. I don't know about any of those. There's also SWOS, which is pretty good.

It's taken a while, yes, but I think now I do actually prefer playing an FPS on the 360, to playing on the PC. Only on the 360 though... the controller is definitely very well-suited to fast-paced, many-buttoned FPS play.

Doom 4-way co-op (for £3.50), Halo 3 4-way co-op at 'Legendary' difficulty, and Call of Duty 4 team multiplayer. They're all excellent. Really awesomely ace and good.

Also, YOU MUST GET CRACKDOWN. :attitude:

Don't forget to use the voucher code experience08 to get an extra tenner off.

Rumour has it that Woolies will be launching the same bundle tomorrow for £200, but they'll also be doing the 360 Elite and GTA for £260 if that floats yer boat.

Also, a quick word of advice I always give to anyone about to come into some money: make sure you wipe it down afterwards or else it ain't legal tender.

Incidentally, the code wyk89ac3 will apparently get you 10% off your first order at Woolies online so that'd be the best buy for 360 + GTA4 if the rumours are true (£180 for Pro / £234 for Elite).

Which if you look at it in a slightly blinkered way, that's £34 for the Elite.

I think I'd take that.

It all hinges on the following unknown facts:

a) Whether or not the code works,
b) Whether or not Woolies actually are offering those bundles, and
c) Whether or not they put them online (what with the Elite currently being out of stock on their website).

If all conditions are met then GO GO GO!
