I'm on the lookout for a good 4K screen but I'll go 32 inch I think. I really need MOAR PIXELS for when I am doing content creation stuff. I also want to be able to have three fruit machines running side by side in the emulator so it'll be like having my own arcade, and it'll be good for the videos too.

What scaling are you going to use on that, then? I did the numbers and I think full 4K native is too squinty on a 32".

But I found it simpler to just remember where the keys are. The keyboard at my old office was practically blank - this current one is holding out so far, but it was a lot more expensive.

I once knew a guy who would use Caps Lock whenever he wanted a single capital letter. Caps lock on, press the key, caps lock off. I never trusted him after I found this out.

They are still on there. It turns out I don't need to see the keyboard to know what I'm typing. The keyboard can see me though.

I worked with a guy who always had caps lock on and used shift to type in lower case.

Oh goody, more wiring (I've spent the last four days doing nothing but making wires and running them). Finally got it to a test phase though, where I could test all of the electronics before committing and fitting hoses and water. Synced up the apps. And had a bit of a play. Donor machine (the green stuff) will end up in the case I am using now and will be a server. Mate gave me a free bundle with a 4590s, very frugal on power I've become addicted to backup storage and streaming since getting my NAS. It's just awesome.

It's gotten to the point where I don't know my arse from my elbow. Like, yesterday I was looking at the photos I took when testing the RGB system and thought "Hey, what the fuck are those dot like reflections on the acrylic panel?" and then it dawned on me that about two weeks ago I added MOAR RGB ! and hid two strips so well that I forgot they were there lol. I reckon I could cram a body in there. Worth a try

I've got a 32" 1440p screen and it's just about right. I think if I were going native 4k* then I would probably want a 40. I used to have a 28" 4k and things that did not scale were unusable. For example Photoshop.. I couldn't even read the drop down menus it was crazy. * I do game at 4k using Nvidia DSR to drive up the res. Doesn't work well with some games, but with FO4 it does make it look nicer. I have a 1680x1050 Apple screen at my mother's house (got a rig there) and I use AMD's VSR to drive that at 2600xwhateveritwasIforgot It's a cool feature.

Following RESEARCH it seems that a 32 inch 4K screen has the same PPI as a 16 inch 1080p screen, which is ideal as that's the specs on Mrs Hearthly's old laptop, which I find perfectly comfortable to use without any scaling. So fingers crossed it'll be OK.

Mission accomplished, three fruit machines running side by side at the same time! My old man eyes can indeed do native 4K with no scaling and still use The Internets and stuff without issue, although it's definitely at about the comfortable limit. (I have the screen a bit closer to me than I did the old 27 incher.) The screen itself is fab, really impressed with it, although no USB hub which I did use on the Dell so that required a bit of cabling changes. After fruit machine emulation I played a load of Pinball Arcade, which ran fine at native 4K and maintained a solid 60FPS with v-sync, although it's hardly the most demanding title in the world. The monitor swivels, yes. However, last time I checked the cabinet mode in Pinball Arcade itself wasn't the best, but maybe they've improved it since then. TBH it's such a big screen it works fine in 16:9 mode, but I guess I should give it a try vertically at least.

Mutant Storm Reloaded is trippy as fuck on such a big screen with the volume turned up. I love that game. Pac-Man CE DX is awesome too in MEGA-BIG-O-VISION.

After 40 hours of deliberation and changing my mind Amazon dropped the price (on the Elite) by £40. Still didn't make it easy, but my keyboard is just knackered. I've had it 3 years, it was £30 (mech) it's filthy (easily fixed just takes ages) and I've had it apart twice to replace switches that have died. So it's time to put that out to pasture. I just hope that this doesn't have the usual Razer build quality and they stand by it if it breaks (they don't have a very good track record for that).

I will be keeping it though. May even have it plugged in and running so I don't ruin the new one. It was the cheapest mech board money could buy when I got it. £30. The switches are like, Kahli? something like that. Bogus Cherry switches bascially that wear out over time. I have had to replace the enter and space bar switches with genuine Cherry to keep it running. I also use it as my gateway of comms, so it gets used 7 days a week every day for many hours.

Hobbyist isn't relevant to breakage, as a software engineer Ive used 10 quid Dell keyboards 8+ hours a day for over 20 years. Only broken a single key, on a 4 year old laptop, unless you count wearing the face printing off, in which case all of them. Heavy-handed though - try pressing keys not throwing nearby coolers and graphics cards at them!

I've seen that happen. It makes my neck tense up. Also folk that use the mouse to move the cursor somewhere when using the keys would be way faster.

When I returned fro the cottage last year(OR Portugal just before the cottage) one of my workmates had put a pair of googly eyes on each key of my keyboard., expecting me to take them off, as a revenge for covering the place in googly eyes. This somewhat obscures the text on the keys. They are still on there. It turns out I don't need to see the keyboard to know what I'm typing. The keyboard can see me though.
