The pins are just like little wires right, so this should all be just fine shouldn't it?

(I actually thought you were joking and referring to getting a 'xeon inside' sticker to put on the outside of the case).

That will be the finishing touch to make it that little bit faster.

As a bonus, the cpu I got has already been modded to fit the board (not that this was mentioned anywhere in the auction), so I don't have to do any cutting. Although I did waste £2 on a sticker.

Hopefully it actually works.

Well, it works.
I forgot how much fun the cooler was to fit, so I had a few failed attempts where it just shut straight down because it was too hot (and one where I forgot to plug the fan back in).

Think I might need a new cooler though as it's stiil running pretty hot. I'll give it some time to cool down and see how it goes.

I should stop looking at Samsung 970 Pro Plus NVMe SSDs and RTX 2060s. I should. I really should.

I have their 1/4 drive ratchet. It's certainly in my top 10.

I now have the ten-bit ratchet screwdriver with the bits in the handle and a set of four ratchet spanners. I'm eying up the tiny mini-ratchet set next.

£56 on Amazon (Wera tool check plus). That’s got to be very close to impulse purchase for you :D

Next time it looks vaguely useful for a job I'm about to undertake, I'll snap.

Thanks to Hearthly's generosity and JC's obscure knowledge of ancient Intel tech, my PC now firmly belongs in the year 201x (where x is pretty low).
I've installed the SSD, but haven't got round to reinstalling Windows onto it yet, at which point I expect to be blown away.

Thanks again PC thread, see you in another 10 years.
