Aye, B&B moves fast enough at the best of times & then it turns into twitter at the last kick.

100 pages in 4 weeks is 25 pages a week is three and a half pages a day.

Off the antibiotics now, so to celebrate I'm reheating last night's lamb curry* & chicken whatever-the-fuck-it's-called, washed down with warm green ginger, black rum & honey :D

*Fae the Punjab (restaurant not the royal), Gill. It's bloody good, their pakora sauce is crap though.

Quick question: if I go to a 3D film showing and don't wear the glasses, does it just make it plain old 2D or will it look as wrong as Mr Chris?

It'll look awful. It'll be all fuzzy as both eyes will be receiving both stereoscopic images at the same time.

It's watchable, but everything is a bit blurry.

I saw through Coraline without the glasses on, as wearing them was giving me a massive headache and making me very tired. I didn't enjoy that film as a result.

I rushed out to the garage and grabbed my PC games, looking forward to playing MW2. Imagine my disappointment when, as I hit the button to slip the disc in, I realise it's a dvd, and I've only got a cd writer on this computer. BooHiss

Can you not do something with steam? Like plug the cd key and download it?

Ok. I wanted to go for an old-fashioned 2D viewing, but the only times they had were 11:30am - rubbish. How much are the glasses?

Good idea. But I'm going to play PIRATES! instead. Or MTW1. And I'll get my dvd player from the other computer from the loft later.

They're free at any cinema I've been to, but the ticket costs £1-2 more to compensate.

Oh right. It said (annoyingly at the booking confirmation screen) that the glasses were not included and I had to pay extra for them. As long as they're not something stupid like a fiver each I'm not bothered.

XDAs? The only person I know of with an XDA is a colleague's 4 year old daughter who likes to play at pretending she has a real phone.

It's specifically a Mantle (yes Doc, it's made by HTC).

The hardware's not bad, the OS is awful.

I think they all were HTC models. HTC make about 80% of the entire Windows Mobile OS device market.

Indeed. And it's hardly advanced since I got my HTC TyTN, running WinMob 5, in 2006.

The Redfly 'Mobile Companions' are quite funky, though. They basically sync up with the smart phone and turn it into a netbook. Shame you're still operating the same shit OS, though.

Some shit-stain has just stolen one of our very classy NAD CD players from the listening area, employing a cable cutter to detach it and then strolling nonchalantly out. Thanks to our comedy understaffing today, I was the only one on the music desk and strongly suspect they must have snuck past whilst I quickly nipped to the bathroom or was tied up with an enquiry or fetching the shelving trolley. Also, hilariously, all our security camera's are useless because the arty design of the space blocks all viewing angles to the area in question - with a great big wall of shelving for the scores directly blocking my view of it from the desk where I sit.

Plus we don't actually have any security - we used to in the old place where we didn't have anything worth nicking, but we don't anymore in our expensive 'open plan' library.

Fucks sake. Really upset and angry right now. Hateful cunt stealing something that my borrowers wholeheartedly enjoy. Only got one left now since the last one was stolen, too.

:'(

It doubly pisses me off because I spend my morning, afternoon and lunchbreaks reading a book listening to jolly nice music on those machines. It effectively alleviates any stress I build up through the day. Now with only three out of the original five (two on the floor below) remaining it’s going to be a lot harder for me to get one when I need it, especially in the twenty minute breaks when somebody is always using the other one on my floor.

Basically, the way I see it somebody has stolen an object of unmixed pleasure directly from me.

Which is why I am Mr Angry Face right now.

By remarkable coincidence I just bought a 8gb Sansa Clip+ yesterday for £40 with some Philips SHS8000 headphones. It is good.

But that CD player was really lush, really really lush. With amazing headphones. (We thankfully still have one pair left of the incredible headphones, the other three pairs were also nicked.) With the old library the music listening area was right next to the desk, and thus safe. Here we have it across a chasm with a bridge and a great big shelving unit blocking the view, and an enclosing wall largely blocking it from view of the rest of the floor.

Can we spend money on a security guard and some CCTV instead of pointless uniforms absolutely no one wants, Mr Council please?

I'll shut up now.

I'd donate the CD player that someone's brought into the office today if I could. Not because it's any good, but because its been used to churn out crappy Christmas songs all day.
