Where did you find out about? A cursory search I did yielded nothing but shedloads of links to sites telling me they knew little to nothing about "R-Type Dimensions" other than the name, so any links to further info would be appreciated.

Anything other than a straight port is a 100% guaranteed sale to me (in comparison, a straight port would have been probably around 73% guaranteed as much as I'd like to resist buying the same game again).

Sorry, I'm excited. Even though I'm ever so slightly dissapointed they didn't call it R-Type Final 2.

Hope the 99 nights sequel is better than the first game. It was very pretty but repetitive with your allies being very ineffective, especially in comparison to something like Warriors Orochi.

It did have some of the most hilariously stupid generic-fantasy character names ever, though. Inphyy. Klarrann. And of course the mighty Dwingvatt.

So there's that. Or possibly thaatt.

any love for speedball 2 here?

I still haven't bought the 360, by this (and swos) are probably what appeals to me most.

R-Type Dimensions trailer. Side-scrolling retro fun!

03:28:31 -

The graphics look pretty, they definitely have a retro feel but some tip top next gen shading.

03:29:13 -

Local and online co-op for two people, and you'll be able to switch seamlessly between 2D and 3D graphics. Crikey.

Didn't notice the Dimensions subtitle before...

speedball 2 xbla just isn't there, the new graphics are awful, and the old graphics, the feel and gameplay, just isn't there 100% it misses the completely playtested solid feel of the amiga version..

I bet I end up buying R-Type. Again.

I just recently picked up PS1 R-Types for two quid, and as it's arcade accurate I'd like to think this will be the last time I buy a version of the original R-Type having already bought it for the Amstrad CPC, Spectrum and Master System (twice, about ten years apart) already.

But I've got a feeling I'll still be tempted to finally get some MS Points, even if the only change is achievements and a leaderboard.

All of this. In the last three months alone I've bought R-Type for the Master System, PC Engine and Gameboy. Not tried the first two yet, really like the Gameboy version, been playing it on lunch breaks. And yet I'm immediately 'OMG R-TYPE ON XBLAH!!!'. It is to schmups as Outrun is to racers, or something,

It's GB. But played on my SP, it looks like it might have some kind of colourization going on, sorta. Maybe. Could be my imagination... Can't really think of any for the GBA. Er.

if you have a flashcart, bulletgba.gba, is a pd shooter which is really a bullet hell shmup brought back to its very basics,

or from the same developer, the bit more evolved vulcanon

Well, I'd buy it, anyway.

Although once I buy things on wheels, the team fortress update and rock band bits and pieces I think Ill be one card down so I might keep it for something special.

Nope.

Difficulty ramps up to stupid after about 3 rounds in single player and trying to piss about doing a fatality on the 360 D-pad is akin to nailing jelly to the ceiling.

Cartoony new ones. It's still worms, but rather bare compared to the PS2 one I bought. Still cheaty AI too.

It was called the Dark Side, and it was pretty much my staple tactics. ;)

Dimrill, I know the graphics are cartoony, but would you say it's more faithful to the original Amiga version in gameplay? I really want a remake of that.

You can go "brown worm" which involves getting behind your opponent and kicking their back doors in.

Working the Sunday shift at Eurotunnel's call centre when there were sod-all calls and even fewer people in the building, my mate used to bring in a portable telly and his Playstation and we'd spend hours playing Worms.

We'd set a CPU team to the lowest AI setting, give them the names of the Voyager crew and cackle madly as they repeatedly failed to get their thrown grenades over bits of scenery and blew themselves to Kingdom Come. The expression "oh no, I've Neelixed it up" still finds its way into our conversations today.

Were those car combat* games ever any good? I remember the original Twisted Metal was decent, but the sequel (which everyone raved about) seemed terrible, as was Vigilante 8.

I really liked Twisted Metal: Black on the PS2 in local multiplayer. I doubt it would stand up today, though - and the single player game was shite.

I spent a long time playing Carmageddon 2 and had a great laugh, but time changes a man and returning to it know would make me think of Burny Pee, or even GTA (why can't I jump out of the car?). Some of the powerups were awesomesauce though. Pedestrian springs spring to mind :)
