In conclusion, they are tits.

It came across as a semi compliment about at least a small corner of their back catalogue. You cannot take it back now, sir, nor weasel your way out of it with weaslery. Oh no no no.

Actually now I remember The Byrds song was a Pete Seeger cover in the first place, and a stunning one at that. And yes, those lyrics have done nothing to reduce my murderous rage.

I like indie music. It's just that I (barely) remember when indie was The Smiths and John Peel and flexidiscs. Not Jo fucking Whiley gawping on about how Travis covering Britney Spears is just the most BRILLIANT thing ever just so AWESOME it's fantastic I love it. That's indie today. That and the cover of NME being increasingly 'How Much Do I Look Like Noel Fielding?'. Grrr. It's all gone horribly wrong.

To me "indie" stopped in 1999. Everything since then is filed under the genre "wankbags".

Why 1999? Terris weren't THAT bad.

Bis, of course, ruined this by only being partly tedious and eventually actually becoming decent, by which time they were no longer NME-friendly. Oh, the ironing...

Also under NME another infamously hyped who went nowhere in a boring manner - Gay Dad.

NME's fascinating through its sheer unrelenting awfulness - are they truly convinced about what they're writing? Or are they hideous cynics calculating maximum sales? Or some unholy combination? Brr.

Crumbs, I remember them. They got massive amounts of airplay and hype, released an OK single and then no one ever heard of them ever again. The song went "So come on! Let's get it on!" at one point, I remember.

Was one of the members of Gay Dad not an NME staff writer? Or writer for some other musical publication, hence all the massive publicity they got?

I had to skip the last couple of pages to say: I hope this is severely disagreed with. Easily one of the best songs white man on major label has done.
