Yep. That's his knob out on the cover of Achtung Baby, too.

It came across as a semi compliment about at least a small corner of their back catalogue. You cannot take it back now, sir, nor weasel your way out of it with weaslery. Oh no no no.

Yeah, I know. Quite offputting, really.

What? I was comparing the collective worth of entire catalogue of U2 to say, any Travis album. Seriously, you don't think that I mean that with real meanness?

I am painfully aware that the word "indie" is to you what "Liberal" is to Americans, but as you're merely words on a screen I have decided to imbue you with a pleasant and kindly personality, to flesh out, if you will, the persona that bleeds through the pixels which make up your entire presence in my world.

Also: Travis = gr8.

Gasp with joy at lyrical delights such as:

"Turn turn turn"

and not forgetting the unforgettable:

"Sing sing sing"

And next! From the forthcoming new groundbreaking single:

"Verb verb verb."

You can stand down with the manhunt old thing, as it's not a cover of the Byrds song (which is quite excellent).

It is instead a masterpiece of original lyricism containing the following:

That Twat from Travis wrote:
If we turn, turn, turn, turn
And if we turn, turn, turn, turn
Then we might learn
Turn, turn, turn, turn
Turn, turn, turn
And if we turn, turn, turn, turn
Then we might learn
Learn to turn

However, if that alone doesn't make you want to hunt them down and kill them, you're a man of steelier temperement than I.

Actually now I remember The Byrds song was a Pete Seeger cover in the first place, and a stunning one at that. And yes, those lyrics have done nothing to reduce my murderous rage. >:(

(Or possibly :ninja: if I don't want to get caught)

I like indie music. It's just that I (barely) remember when indie was The Smiths and John Peel and flexidiscs. Not Jo fucking Whiley gawping on about how Travis covering Britney Spears is just the most BRILLIANT thing ever just so AWESOME it's fantastic I love it. That's indie today. That and the cover of NME being increasingly 'How Much Do I Look Like Noel Fielding?'. Grrr. It's all gone horribly wrong.

To me "indie" stopped in 1999. Everything since then is filed under the genre "wankbags".

NEVER SAY THAT NAME OUT LOUD!

Though they did have the bonus of making me realise once and for all that the NME is a useless rag.

"Terris, it would not be an exaggeration to say that they're the only band you'll ever need"

BNetween them pair and Bis, they were going to take over the world.

Bis, of course, ruined this by only being partly tedious and eventually actually becoming decent, by which time they were no longer NME-friendly. Oh, the ironing...

Also under NME another infamously hyped who went nowhere in a boring manner - Gay Dad.

NME's fascinating through its sheer unrelenting awfulness - are they truly convinced about what they're writing? Or are they hideous cynics calculating maximum sales? Or some unholy combination? Brr.

Crumbs, I remember them. They got massive amounts of airplay and hype, released an OK single and then no one ever heard of them ever again. The song went "So come on! Let's get it on!" at one point, I remember.

Was one of the members of Gay Dad not an NME staff writer? Or writer for some other musical publication, hence all the massive publicity they got?
