So where'd you get 'two weeks' from?

As far as I know, you gave five hours notice, and by then you'd already done it.

We started talking about it in the latter pages of the WoS thread.

Oh.

I never read that thread after the first page, as I assumed it would be a series of
- 'Nothing today.'
- 'Nothing today.'
- 'Stu posted something he wrote ages ago.'
- 'Yeah, it's a good read. If you like reading. 73%'
- 'Nothing today.'
- 'Man, a day without anything. He's slowwwwwwing down, lol!'

Guess I gotta put my lateral thinking cap on.

I want to post something oh-so-clever about 'if only we had some way of knowing what a topic was about', but I don't think the icons would help in this case.
Sorry if this causes distress and all, but the old icons were only turned on for this to happen (as noted in that other thread that Mr D linked to).

Not my week, is it?

Well I'd like to retrospectively add my support to the new icons. I think they are useful and also that having a mix of two different styles would look shite anyway. Well done Grim... and Dimrill.

What Markg said. Hoorah for Grim... and Dimrill, Kings of Awesome. Sadly some people can't handle that level of awesome.

Looks like I'll have to defend myself here, something I hate doing until cornered like a filthy plague rat. We've been discussing this, and I've been working on these, for a few weeks now to help identify the topic contents of each thread. The old style icons simply couldn't do that, plus while we've got a CodeGorilla like Grim... around we can shufty and change around the way things work instead of this place looking like a boring old corporate phpBB forum with no soul.

Also, I've been asking about - and then getting very shirty about people's responses to - the idea of post icons for days now. For fucking fuck's sake.

I'm getting Vogon vibes from this, to be honest.

"Your chance to object to this was in a thread marked "The Other Place" and has been available for ages. What do you mean you don't know about it, and don't read that thread. We assumed it meant noone objected. Earth will be demolished shortly."

The Dimlies don't bother me because I rarely use icons anyway, but it does seem that a few things of late have been "half an announcement here, half chatter there, are we ready? let's do it". The only thing that hasn't is the Mods voting thing, and I don't see any complaints about that.

I dunno. Just seems to me that actions are being taken with the best of intentions, like Mimi's thread yesterday, without fully considering the implications. It is of course much harder to do that than it is to be a Stu-style "This is how it is, if you don't like it there's there door" but I thought that was the whole point of the forums...

(d) Most people are happy with them, so if you want a vote, we'll go ahead and have one.

There have been loads of changes to this forum - loads. 90% of them are things that people have requested one way or another (others are for admin-type purposes (the 'hidden' review forum, for example)). We can't have a merry vote for each one (well, we could, but fuck all would ever get done).

Just to prove he knows he's been out of order, Grim has in fact edited his reply..I should have quoted him.
I'm taking his advice from his post before the edit.

I didn't give a toss about the icons being used, I just wanted the option to not have to..grims on a power trip and was rude.
So I'm off to nicer places tbh..first Myoptika, who has been threatening and rude then Grim. Lovely.
Those of you who have been nice, well I have your contact details and xbox tag.

I don't mean to be rude, but that's a spectacular overreaction. In the other (iPhone) thread you came in with a confrontational attitude and said that it was a FACT that the iPhones that everyone had bought were crap; in my opinion that was at best a rude thing to do.

In this instance it's just such a vanilla, 'meh' type issue... people wanted interesting topic icons and the old ones were removed. Toa dd them all back in for an old topic you once made seems like overkill, and is perhaps a tad selfish?

Again, I don't mean to be rude or persecute anyone, but this board is populated and modded by people who seem to be acting in the best interests of the board at pretty much every turn. Not everything can be perfect, and sometimes people don't get what they want (I, personally, would much prefer to have external links open in new windows) - but it's still a great and lovely forum.

Hopefully we can all go back to being nice now.

:'(

Lots of whiney posts around the forum at the moment. "Waa-boo-hoo someone told me to do something differently, I don't like it, it's different to may way/opinion, I can't deal with criticism" *OUTRAGE*

I thought the change was quite exciting myself, like a neat surprise.

Can I suggest that people just put up with whatever their gripes might be until the new set of mods are elected? At that point, if you don't like a particular mod's style, don't vote for them again.

OMG oppression and corruption etc.

Back on the Dimlies, can the post type ones have mouseovers like the smilies do? I am having difficulty remembering the difference between a Space Dimvader, a Dimpad, and a Pacdim.

Yeah, um, no (for some odd reason).
I'll look into changing that in the future, though.

Back on the Dimlies, can the post type ones have mouseovers like the smilies do? I am having difficulty remembering the difference between a Space Dimvader, a Dimpad, and a Pacdim.

I notice they don't have alt-image tags (I have the images turned off at work). However I did turn it on to see them specially, and they are indeed aces.

I asked for that from Grimothy already. I believe he's brachiating towards the code in question, but has been distracted by succulent foliage.

The 2 Stus were alts I did for the same thing: reviews. For some reason Grimothy's bunged em both in cos he must like them or something. Same for the game ones really, I did 3 as a choice, preferring the invaders one, meself like.
