If he hadn't already completely ballsed up his ironical zombie satirising creds with Day, he utterly destroyed it by asking Dennis Hopper to get involved in Land.

And, you know, the script.

I rather liked Day of the Dead. Land of the Dead was reasonable. Diary of the Dead was awful.

I've just watched Old School zombie film Plague of the Zombies. It was a bit boring. Not because it wasn't Romero style, it was just a bit slow.

Is it wrong that my favourite one was the remake of Dawn"? Yes? I'll go to bed now.

Not as wrong as your other wrongs but pretty wrong.

Romeros films get increasingly rubbish. Such a shame.

A bit more about the Walking Dead series here:

Looks really good, I'll definitely be showing my support by torrenting the shit out of it.

Curses!

Amazon have bumped the price of the first Walking Dead compendium from £24.99 to £37.75.

Should have bought that when I saw it cheap.

People with cool Android phones (and maybe iPhone ones too, dunno) might be interested to hear that best fucking game ever Zombies! Run! has been updated and now has a multiplayer mode.

[edit] No iPhone version, it seems :(
[edit]I lie! It appears it exists after all, and we can all play together.

It's fucking aces. Once every ten minutes you can build a fortification at your current location that will protect everyone within it. You can then send the fastest person out to distract all the zombies while you peg it some distance away and build a new fortification (or get to the win zone).

We simply have to play this at the Beex in a house meet - you ramblers could play it too. Aces.

Clarification: The above all happens in "real life" - your phone uses GPS to find out where you all are, and the game spawns zombies and draws them on the map, moving slowly toward you all. As you run in real life, you move on the map, and thus away from the zombies.

There's a ghost version as well where you have to catch ghosts, but I've completely forgotten what it's called. Spec Trek, maybe?

To clarify (again), the multiplayer is a webapp, found here: http://game.zrli.org/

Obviously unless your PC has GPS and you can run around with it it's not going to work that well.

Also, when someone is eaten by a zombie, they become a zombie.

We just watched Land of the Dead with that there Mentalist in it and then I stuck the extras on to find out Simon Pegg was in it. I had no idea whatsoever and only got a suspicion when the short was called "When Shaun met George".

The film's not actually all that good but gained +100 nerd points with me for that unexpected bonus.

I said to the wife "He's dead now" and she thought I meant in the film.

She also jumped so much at one bit she split wine down herself. I mocked.

That looks far too cleanly shot for horror/gore.

It does have a certain appeal though. :hat:

Zombie Jerky from Kotaku :

http://kotaku.com/5588910/if-you-cant-b ... he-zombies

Image

Quote:
Eating the undead isn't just for Japan anymore. From the makers of Zombie Blood energy drink comes Zombie Jerky Dead Meat Chunks, "the first slimy, green, beef jerky packaged in a bright-orange biohazard specimen bag." I feel sick.

Harcos, the company that brought you Mana Energy Potion, Blood Energy Potion, and of course, Zombie Blood, now enters the dried beef market with Zombie Jerky Dead Meat Chunks. As promised, these slimy green chunks of dried meat are packed inside a simulated specimen bag, which I can only imagine helps strengthen the gag reflex considerably.

"When we saw that Japanese blue zombie jerky come out a few months ago and couldn't buy it ourselves, we thought it was a capital idea to make our own in green. It's a natural follow-on product to our packaged Zombie Blood," said Aaron Rasmussen, co-founder and vice president of marketing, Harcos Laboratories.

The disgusting novelty meat will soon be available for $4.99 per 1.25 oz. bag at the Living with Bloodlust website or equally gross places, like Hot Topic.

I'm going to go throw up now.

Just finished watching Colin. Bloody brilliant considering the budget. Some really original ideas in there and very emotional at times. I can see Hollywood producing a slick version of this. Don't know if that would be a good thing though as it's very British and the mundane nature of the locations really add to the whole atmosphere.

Yeah, you sat through Diary of the Dead. What's going on?

I'll be completely honest and say I was stunned at just how low tech the filming and sound were and, gasp, the 4:3 screen ratio, but then the story carried me along all the way through.

Note that there is a big fat compendium of the first eight (I think) parts in one volume. It's by far the cheapest way to get them, but it's so huge and heavy it's quite bothersome to read. It's heavier than my 900+ page hardback edition of Anathem.

Started watching this with my brother when he was down a few weeks ago, but he got bored so we stopped, and my sky+ing skills failed me that night...

I might have to try and dig it out again.

Watched Outpost tonight and I now realise it shouldn't really be mentioned in this thread as it's not a Zombie film. Supernatural horror that starts well and weakens lots as it goes along (alt ending is terrible). Deathwatch already did it better if you want spooky Nazi shit.
