Has anyone ever had a 360 Play and Charge cable knacker on them?

It wouldn't start charging, so I blew in it and the 360 connectors in case of dust. Nothing, but it suddenly started. But it would only light up for maybe 30 seconds before going out again. So I made sure the cables and battery were all properly seated, tried both USBs on the front of the 360, same result. Even tried my broken wireless controller.

Noticed, then, while unplugging the cable it was flashing green very pathetically and fading. Plugged in again, pulled it out, and a faint red stayed on. Took the plug end apart and can't see any damage to anything, still knackered, very annoying. I assume it's fuxx0red.

Oh, and here's another thing. Don't buy cheap miniscrewdrivers. You know how the make the centre bit grooved so you'll grip it while turning? On these this was so badly machined it was actually frayed, and inserted one of the jagged metal slivers deep into the meat of my thumb, leaving a tiny bloody hole (luckily, the sliver remained attached to the screwdriver throughout). OWWW.

I got a second hand cable and battery from Game for £2.99. Unsurprisingly, no worky. Although I could use it as a wired controller fine.

Got new battery - brand new. Still no worky. A quick google then revealed thousands of hits that they break a lot. I'm going to get a plug and charge kit instead and have two spare batteries.

I didn't know he already drove a minicab. I know that many people can control such things when they are on special medication, but there have been cases where they stop taking the drugs and bad things happen. I don't know... it's a tough one. I really think he should be allowed to be a cab driver, but then I admit I'd not be comfortable knowing that he was my driver. I'd actually feel even less safe knowing that he was my minicab driver, because the minicabs in London are rather scary.

I'm in two minds about it too.

Srsly tho - I'm all for giving people a second chance, but not sure I'd feel comfortable with someone I love being in a cab alone with him. It's a tough one. If pushed, I'd probably be for letting him do it.

Bollocks, I forgot about QT. I will iPlayer it some time over the weekend.

Awake, but knackered again, quick shower then the 0703 bus. Motorbike started on 10th attempt yesterday, so that's a good sign, need to book it in for an MOT. I think it just needs a new rear tyre (due to a nail sticking out of the current one).

Woman from freecycle came to collect the bed that's been in my garage for the past 18 months, freeing up an awful lot of space, so I'm happy about that.

Oh well, 9-5 again today and no BBBC action in London for me.

Is she the ex head of the Department of Culture Media and Sport?

If so, about 5 years ago I was at an event which she was speaking at. She was literally wheeled in, did a 10 minute speech like a robot and was wheeled out again.

My impression was that she was literally a performing monkey dancing to her masters tune.

It's only one fan's interpretation, but it's pretty in-depth. Let me find you the pages you want to read (if you look at the table of contents it'll probably spoil some stuff for you).

http://www.members.shaw.ca/halflifestory/timeline.htm

Read up to section 1.5, but no further. It won't spoil anything in HL2 unless you read 1.6 onwards.

I was woken up by someone delivering me flowers today, from my Nan. I've not received a bunch of flowers for... well, for a very very long time indeed. Actually, no, the last time I had flowers was this spring, when I bumped into my old lecturer in M&S and he bought me a fe bunches of daffodils. Today I received many orchids. They are beautful.

It is dark in the mornings and evenings now. I like this time of year very much. I can wear my coat and hat, wrap my scarf around me, find some mittens and hide, and I'm not forced to look at people's bare bellies wobbling by because in Lancaster it is still 1984. Oh, and hopefully everyone will stop wearing ugly shorts over leggings, because it looks terrible, and just because it is fashionable doesn't mean it is right.

Interesting, but a few thoughts as the guy seems to omit a number of facts:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
-he says Opposing Force isn't mentioned in the timeline because it's not critical to understanding the story. Black Mesa being nuked by the US Government, with the GMan ensuring that the nuke goes off after Shepard disarms it, is pretty fucking critical, I would have thought. Only the nuclear blast is mentioned, not the GMan's desire to see this happen.
-I've read elsewhere that Breen was actually in communication with the Combine prior to everything going Pete Tong, hence why he was appointed administrator as, being at Black Mesa, he'd have been among the first to know about Xen. Anything beyond this is too much of a coincidence.
-There's also a mention that the satellite network that Gordon activates in the original game is somehow responsible for the portal storms - the Black Mesa scientists erroneously believed it would fix the resonance cascade but in fact it made things worse and also made it possible for the Combine to come through.
-I also don't think Breen is as naive as the author thinks. He has chosen this path of oppression as the only alternative was humanity being wiped out altogether by the Combine. When you're captured at the end of HL2, he's giddy with delight as finally he has some kind of advantage over the Combine.
-He also seems to think that Breen somehow survived that massive explosion.

But yeah, don't read 1.6 or further until you've finished Half Life 2.
