I think not.

Define "real". I can certainly see it, if that helps.

Looks real to me.

She is probably 5ft 2-4 and standing on a slope which makes the cow look even bigger. Also the cow is nearer to the lense which adds to the effect.

Note that her hand may not be on the cow's rump -- she might be stood a few feet behind the cow. You can't see the hand itself.

That is also not a cow. And never was.

@Dim: A bitch is a female dog. A dog is a male dog (although, technically, you could argue the term is canine).

Hmm. That's almost exactly the point I made. Anyway, let's look at that photo of the delightfully large domesticated ungulate.

But there is.

Cow means female cow

Bull means male cow.

The word has 2 meanings.

Farming background, innit. Tell you what, I'll get someone to milk that 'cow', and you drink what comes out :)

[edit]Also in the same catagory is when people say "JCB" and mean "Backhoe loader"

A lecturer of mine at uni spent a large part of his PhD rolling around in the sow's pens in overalls, then getting in with the boy pigs so they could get ready to be collected from. he's a far braver man than I.

Yeah, but I'm fully aware that cows are only female cows, but the fact that these sentences even make logical sense, shows the dual nature of these words

Cows are female cows.

Dogs are male dogs.

Men are male men.

It doesn't work with Sheep, as you have Ewe and Ram.

But to me the first 3 sentences are the same as

An orange is orange.

A violet is violet.

It's just people being lazy when coming up with the language.

That's more akin to Hoover meaning Vacuum cleaner and Cellotape meaning sticky tape and so on.

maybe it reads better like this:

A boy is a young male human, a girl is a young female human, a woman is an adult female human, a man is an adult human.

but man is a DIRECT synonym for human so, this sentence is just as valid.

A boy is a young male man, a girl is a young female man, a woman is an adult female man, a man is an adult man.
